Our Scorned, Scorched Planet!

Scientists have now issued a warning that in a couple of decades, some parts of our planet may become uninhabitable. I beg to differ, some parts of our world are already uninhabitable. Our patched, long-suffering planet has endured human’s degradations for millennia; we don’t care about our world; we hate each other and are so quick to point out our differences, perhaps I am doing the same thing, but this article is meant to be constructive.

I don’t mean for this article to pander to any group of people but everyone. Recently, I watched a film titled, ‘Knowing’ and it’s about our world being destroyed by a massive solar flare which inevitably made the earth uninhabitable and in a creepy twist of fate, scientists are echoing the same thoughts. They are not predicting a solar flare will obliterate our world as we know it, they are warning us about climate change, but what they aren’t telling us to change is our attitude to everything on this planet.

Humanity has descended so low that everything is about race and religion, and this is so sad. I wanted to write an article about love, bravery, and selflessness but I am finding it increasingly difficult to do so. A young boy lost his life in a house fire today in South East London, and yet on Yahoo, people were commenting on the colour of his skin and his parents’ race? It’s unbelievably sad.

There’s an increase in knife crime among black youths in London, and when a young life is lost, people hardly care, and that same attitude is unequivocally linked to our lack of empathy. We have grouped ourselves into white/black Muslim/Christian Catholic/Protestants etcetera. And it’s the same around the world, we have created this sick, twisted ideology we’re better than the next person if we belong to a particular race or religion.

There’s divisive politics, people hate with their eyes but smile with their teeth. We are so petty and care only for ourselves. We satisfy our cravings for depravities in the most deplorable fashion possible it’s laughable.

I am keen to see a time when we would truly love one another with no inhibitions. Sadly, it’s a human condition, we are suspicious and find it difficult to relate to people who don’t look or think like us. However, there is that basic instinct that connects us all, our DNA. It differentiates us from animals, the ability to think, feel and vocalise our emotions through words. Maybe animals love and feel (I’m not an expert on that) but not on our level, and I suppose the ability to express our feelings should make us a better entity. We should be able to take care of our environment and the people around us.

I am an optimist, but just as our earth is groaning under the burden of our selfishness and nonchalant attitude toward climate change, maybe, we will finally be able to do something together and eschew our petty differences.

Climate change is real!

The Bystanders

Today marked the 7oth year of the liberation of that notorious death trap in Poland, Auschwitz. It’s a solemn day for the 300 hundred survivors who attended. Roman Kent, who gave a very moving speech where he implored people not to become bystanders, those words stood out for me. The word struck a chord in my heart, and I realise that by and large, we could be guilty of being a bystander.

We can do more to make the world a better place, but rather, we sometimes turn our eyes away, thinking, ‘it’s not my problem, I’ve got enough of my own.’ True, we all have one baggage or the other tied to our tired gait, but if every human on this planet (minus ISIS, Hezbollah, Al Qaeda, Boko Haram  and all those crazed lunatics prancing about killing innocent people in the name of their blood sucking god, they relish in murders anyway), decides to stamp out evil, malice, hatred and our differences, we would be living in a crime-free world indeed.

I don’t want to be a bystander, I really don’t. If we all feel like that, maybe, there would be a chance that the world would prevent another near annihilation of innocent people.

For this post not to be an irony, I have to state categorically that Auschwitz is practically repeating itself all over the world. Killings of civilians continue unabated while the world looks on unperturbed. If I were to be the president of the world, I would abolish all weapons of mass destruction. However, since I am not, and would never be, I think I would be able to abolish hatred on my street.

Spreading a little love around need not bring any ills to the giver, and while I go to work daily afraid of a bomb going off by a crazed Jihadist, I still have hope that one day, all that ails the world would soon be forgotten.

I know we can’t choose where we come from but we can choose where we go from there.

I remain your loyal friend. 🙂

NP: I have missed several posts from some of you, please bear with me friends. This new adventure I’d recently embarked upon (writing two novels at once) makes me search for time, but I would find it and visit your lovely sites soon!

Much love, always! 🙂

Smile

1418550_20604984 Face

A smile lightens up the world!

Smiling is often difficult when you’re tensed, stressed, and things aren’t actually going your way. But smiling makes life beautiful. The person smiling actually makes life better, and they feel better too.

Mother Teresa said it best: ”We shall never know all the good that a simple smile can do.”

”A gentle word, a kind look, a good-natured smile can work wonders and accomplish miracles.” William Hazlitt

Today, why not practice this: Smile at strangers, laugh at yourself, be kind towards people, be less judgemental (I sure need that! 🙂 ) and while there’s chaos and wars elsewhere, you know you can hold your ground, smile and be thankful for little blessings like clean water, a safe environment, food to eat and the fact that your life matters to a lot of people! People like me! 🙂

Or what do you think friends?

Enjoy the rest of your week and have a lovely weekend!

Much love, always! 🙂

Rich People, Poor People, All Got Dreams.

”Dreams are the easiest part.”

My daddy used to say that even the devil dare to dream. He wanted to usurp God Almighty but he got a mighty kicking and landed his whiffy butt on earth!

I got dreams too… The good kind.

I want to make people happy, clothe the poor, feed the hungry and make people smile. If I could, I want to wipe tears off Peoples’ faces, I want nations to love one another (that’s a tall dream, sceptics may say, after all, there has been wars from the foundation of the world). All the same, love is important, it’s beautiful and could really save the world! I want the Israelis and Palestinians to let bygones be bygones. I want South Sudan to stop their stupidity and halt the senseless war looming over their innocent citizens. I want to dine with Prince William (and ask him to buy copies of my three books!) Kate, hope you don’t mind? 😉

I got dreams too…

I want to stop the uneasiness clouding people when they see someone whose skin is not as pale or as dark as theirs. I want Syria to stop the bloodshed, I want Nigerians to stop their corruption, I want all religions to be devoid of hatred, in a nutshell?

I want PEACE in all nations, among all people. I want this home of ours (earth) to be a paradise. We shouldn’t forget what’s important, and aptly put, it’s that four letter word, love! Love your friends, neighbours and I believe that would ultimately make the world a better place.

I sure got tall dreams guys! 🙂

Enjoy the rest of your week and I hope you’ll all have peace wherever you are in the world!

Much love, always. 🙂

The Absurdity Of Life

8518626733_de04bee46f_o

I’ve been scarce on my website and it wasn’t by choice. My internet connection has been horrendous, I’ve called Sky (my broadband provider)and they didn’t really have much explanation for it. As a working mother, (I work till I drop after putting the kids to bed) I bring a lot of work home, so it’s quiet frustrating.

But let’s leave my internet woes aside. Yesterday I watched in wonder as three sets of paintings by Francis Bacon ( a British artist) was sold for a whopping record of $142 million dollars, I swear! (You can Google it if you don’t believe me)

The painting was bought by an anonymous buyer. In my world, even if I were a Billionaire, I don’t think I’ll have the courage to fork out that kind of money. Look at what the money would do to people in the Philippines, and others in the world!

However, you may rightly argue – ‘Seyi it’s none of your flipping business, the buyer loves the paintings, he bought it, what’s your problem with that!’

And I’ll tell you what my problem is.

Sometimes ago, I wrote on this space that I hardly watch TV anymore. That’s correct, but when that ‘Haiyan Monster’ hit the Philippines, I couldn’t ignore the scale of human suffering (thousands of people passed away)  and I stayed glued to the TV.

My problem is the absurdity of life itself. When some have in abundance and others eat nothing… when some people were crying for water, food and shelter – while some were spending millions on frivolities. Well, that’s the way life is…

Now enough of my moaning. I really have great news, today, I took a sneak  peek on the cover of new book. My publisher is gracious enough to send me a preview and I love what I saw. Hopefully, if my erratic, eccentric internet connection with a life of its own permits, ( quiet a lot of words there) I’ll unveil the cover for all to see, and there would be some promos too, with my publisher, Arrow Gate.

The week is almost over, and I hope you’ve had a great time, mine has… nah, let me stop. I really miss you guys, and I hope as the weekend inch closer, you’ve had a cause to put a smile on someone’s face. I’ll leave you friends with this quote from Og Mandino,

”Treat everyone you meet as if they were going to be dead by midnight. Extend all the care, kindness and understanding you can, with no thought of reward, and your life will never be the same.”

NP: Please bear with me if I’ve not visited your blog in a while, I’ll do so as ‘SKY’ permits, that is, if this post goes live. (it might not! 😦

Enjoy the rest of the week and have a fantastic weekend.

Much love, always. 🙂

A Loud, Noisy World…

A loud, noisy world.

Cacophony of sounds

reverberated everywhere.

Hatred danced openly,

while love is in remission.

Wars and rumours

of war danced freely on our streets.

Toddlers were afraid to chuckle.

A little peace, a little love

We Plead.

But instead

We got

Bullet wounds.

Snipers.

Terrorists.

And paedophiles,

Roamed freely.

A loud, Noisy World.

I hope for peace

and pray for love.

Elusive as it is…

I won’t give up!

It seems killings, deaths, wars has become a bit of a pastime in the world now, Kenya‘s mall killings, Pakistani Christians (women and children murdered), the naval base killings in the U.S, Syria‘s on going war, turmoil in Egypt, Philippine‘s rebels. The list is endless. My daughter asked me yesterday, ‘mum, why can’t we have peace in the world?’ I had no answer to her question. She’s just seven, yet, I can’t shield her from the cruelty of our world. The noise is a constant ringing sound… but you know me, I’m a diehard optimist – I still believe we can live in peace, we just need to start acting it. Like that picture, I hopefully long for peace and quietness in our world…

I pray you’ll all have a peaceful week, and please keep safe!

Much love, always!

Our Golden Moments

9519541302_5349fafdaf_o

We can’t always control what happens to us in life

We can’t always decide how life will turn out.

We can’t always wish problems away

Or conjure up visions of peace and have it in our palms.

We can’t decide how long our days may be,

Or the years we live on this earth.

We lie when we think we are immortals

Man born of a woman is of few days

Like a vapour in the wind.

But we can control the moments we live in this life.

And I call it our golden moments.

Life can always throw up a punch we least expected

But we can LIVE life the way we want.

By prolonging our golden moments under the sun,

By helping the poor,

By not turning away the needy with empty hands when we can fill it up with wealth

By putting a smile on people’s faces – even strangers

By loving all and despising none.

Then we will have earned our golden moments!

I am so happy to write this post, I’ve missed every one of you my dear friends. My holiday took longer than expected, a few visits from family abroad means I couldn’t blog and had to postpone a lot of work. But I know you guys have been having fun, I’ll join in the party and read as many posts as possible. Above all, I wish you more love, more peace, wherever you are in the world. Have a fantastic weekend!

Love, always!

A Place Of Rest…

1062779_97927600 RQ

A place of rest is a place of freedom

Where you eat with contentment.

Where peace flowed unhindered

And shames are banished away.

A place of rest is where hope is found

Skipping with the legs of a deer

On the clear lake of renewal.

Where darkness flee with fear and

Love plays in the open.

A place of rest is when mankind stop

the madness of war.

When babes and toddlers juggle with delight in the sun…

When the smile of old men mingle with the chuckle of the maidens.

Harvested Field

A place of rest is when harvest is not hampered

by the roars of the terrible.

And where men love truly and women’s breast flow with the milk of kindness.

Freedom does not only give rest… It also gives peace.

But remember, freedom and independence means just one thing,

Responsibility!

***

To all my American friends and others around the world, have a nice 4th of July and happy independence day! I firmly believe that finding rest lay solely with us – it might seem preposterous but guys, it’s true. Only you, can put your mind at rest. Looking around you, might expose what is not working, but do remember that we live in an imperfect word!

The Innocent Blood

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Centuries of Lies and Deceit

Centuries of wars and wastage

Centuries of anger and revolt and restlessness

Centuries of pain and discord

Centuries of selfishness and greed

Centuries of me and me and me

Centuries of pride of life and vanity

Centuries of fear and shame

Centuries of death and death and death and death!

This centuries resulted in the innocent blood wasted

Blood of the young, the old and the unborn.

I groaned in disbelief and utter sadness.

When will the son of men stop their charades and live for once!

********

I have vowed not to watch TV again but that’s just impossible. I work a lot on my computer and sometimes I’ll be tired of the writing and editing and would just browse through the internet and still see what I don’t want to see. I wish I have  the supernatural power that can stop all wars and force humans to love each other eternally but it’s a mere dream isn’t it?

Thanks for reading!

A True Heart…

Gavin Terpisra, Sydney!

Our hearts is like magnet, a wise man once said that what we want we attract, and what we hate we dispel and I think he’s right. Have you ever wondered why events that happened to you years ago suddenly springs to the fore accompanied by lofty feelings of elation or suppressed emotions of despair?

It’s because everything we are, our dynamic make up, the very essence of our being is wrapped within that magic word, ‘Heart.’ No wonder, this words of scripture sums it up perfectly, ‘guide your heart with all diligence for out of it are the issues of life.’

Great inventions, lofty ideas, beautiful visions, breakthroughs in science, medicine, all kinds of technological advancement or feats and every endearing development we see today was initially conceived from the heart as a thought process before it became a reality.

Murderers, Paedophiles, Liars, Suicide bombers and even that cancerous evil called divorce all stem from the heart. Great hearts shape the world, evil hearts kill our beautiful earth slowly…

Everything I am today and will ever be comes from my heart!

What about you?

******

I am promoting the second edition of ‘The Feet Of Darkness,’ so I’ll always tuck the links somewhere in my posts. Thank you for reading and love always!
