Are Writers Seers Or Plain Old Liars?

It’s strange really, but I do tend to write stories that has a poignantly close resemblance to reality. When I wrote ‘The Feet Of Darkness,’ I wasn’t setting out to save the world but just believed that love can truly work its magic on a vengeful heart. But how some events has played recently, got me thinking – some people would not respond, even if you heap a universe load of love on them.

Someone once called me a liar, in his words,

‘Writers believed they have a complete knowledge of the human psyche, how people behave, what they might do, how they might react, but writers are plain old liars.’

I asked him to expatiate but he scoffed and left me staring hard at his retreating back. I didn’t know what to make of his assertion and I didn’t bother to try. Two days later, I was having my lunch break when my friend wobbled to my side and snatched my sandwich, I was furious.

‘Hey,’ I yelled, ‘bring that back!’

Nope,’ he refused, daring me to charge after him, after weighing my options, I declined and watched open-mouthed as he gobbled it down, belched, and patted his stomach, then left.

When I got home, I wrote a very good story, based on my experience, I didn’t tell my friend that he was the source of my inspiration but his behaviour helped my creative quest. I simply conjure up a character that bore a close resemblance to him. Now, did I lie? No! Spice it up a bit? Oh, I sure did.

My upcoming novel, Cydonia, Rise Of The Fallen was written about four years ago. I just dumped it in my library when I couldn’t get a publisher. That’s all ancient history now, but the events in that book was played out in the Vatican a few months ago. And believe me, I was shocked. When People read ‘Cydonia,’ I’m sure there would be lots of comments about the story line and plot.

In my opinion, I don’t think writers are liars, we just write from deep within, our writings may be significant, or not, but we can’t seem to do any thing else. It’s my pleasure writing this post.

Thanks for reading.

Much love, always!

A True Heart…

Our hearts is like magnet, a wise man once said that what we want we attract, and what we hate we dispel and I think he’s right. Have you ever wondered why events that happened to you years ago suddenly springs to the fore accompanied by lofty feelings of elation or suppressed emotions of despair?

It’s because everything we are, our dynamic make up, the very essence of our being is wrapped within that magic word, ‘Heart.’ No wonder, this words of scripture sums it up perfectly, ‘guide your heart with all diligence for out of it are the issues of life.’

Great inventions, lofty ideas, beautiful visions, breakthroughs in science, medicine, all kinds of technological advancement or feats and every endearing development we see today was initially conceived from the heart as a thought process before it became a reality.

Murderers, Paedophiles, Liars, Suicide bombers and even that cancerous evil called divorce all stem from the heart. Great hearts shape the world, evil hearts kill our beautiful earth slowly…

Everything I am today and will ever be comes from my heart!

What about you?

Liars And Casanova…

Pink Rose!

The season of love is almost upon us and I remembered a story that happened during my undergraduate days, there was this smooth talker, he wasn’t really a great looker but he knew how to approach girls, sweep them off their feet and soon they’ll be eating out of his palms.

I knew this guy had at least three girlfriends on my street and it baffled me how or why the girls never found out that he was cheating on all three of them. Unbeknown to the guy, the girls finally found out and they planned to have their own pound of flesh. As usual, he’d planned to take his prettiest girlfriend out to dinner on Valentine’s day while he feigned sickness to the other two girls. The other girls hid inside the bathroom of the favourite girlfriend and when he came in for the date, his girlfriend pretended she was in the mood for a little ‘loving’ in the shower. Well as you can guess, Casanova agreed and undressed but when he entered the bathroom with his girlfriend, he saw the other girls and all hell let loose. I heard he walked home naked with his hands between his legs.

The guy was the butt of jokes for the rest of the semester. It’s so sad when we find out that people have lied, still lying or have lied to us! We’ve all told a fib in our lifetimes but making a career out of it would make people distrust you even when telling the truth! I love that story because I hate cheaters. Like the pink rose in the picture, we should cherish true love!

I haven’t posted  any stories or articles in a while though I’ve read a lot of awesome posts. I don’t know why but of late, I’m sort of susceptible to  the cold and flu virus, my husband thought I’ve worked too hard or rather, working too hard. Cold virus had ravaged my body for the past three days and it was so annoying! Anyways, that aside, an awesome lady, Allison Morris, kindly contacted me with a great graphic titled, ‘Why people lie,’ you can visit her website to read it fully, http://www.onlinepsychologydegree.net/why-people-lie , it examines why people lie, its effect and how to spot a liar. It was an interesting read.

Thanks for reading my post always!

Much love. 🙂
