Body of Clay – What Do You Stand For?

Paragon Of Beauty. Can You See Beyond Those Deep Lines Of Experience?

It’s sometimes funny the way we hold on to things, and I mean material things as if we are going to live forever. It’s an open secret that someday, we will call it a day on this part of heaven. We may try to change the subject or try to push it to the deep recess of our minds but our times here in this part of heaven is limited.

That’s just the basic truth.

The woman in the picture is beautiful, but she is aging, and afterward, she would become one with the earth. Studying her face, she seems to know who she is, and she also appears to be living a good life.

What about you? What do you stand for? What are your beliefs? Are you an ‘I’ person or a ‘We’ kind of person? (I want you to ponder on that and give me an answer in the comment section below).

I love taking good care of my body, and since finding out several of my physical limitations, it has not ceased to amaze me how fragile we are. I am now indulging myself in things that are really important and soul-satisfying.

I love smelling flowers, my house is littered with pots of flowers. I appreciate water, I watch mesmerised as it flows through my fingers. I love the sun, the ability to walk, run, and play is just beautiful. I appreciate that now.

Since our time is short, isn’t it foolhardy to fight or keep malice? War is a gory affair. Humanity has pillaged and wasted blood throughout the millennia. I watched the news with slight irritation as grown men are throwing insults at one another. They are actually playing with war, and it’s not pretty.

I urge you all to enjoy every minute of your time, even if we all live till hundred, one day, time will be up.

So let’s stand for all that is good, excellent, and kind.

Have a great weekend all!

Much love, always.:)

Yet Another Day…

3196741823_5803f20ddb_o (2)

I wish your lives would be bright this year!

‘The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time.” Abraham Lincoln.

I love new beginnings, the ability to start again and I think that’s what excites me most about a new year, every January, I tend to have lofty visions of what I want to achieve, projections and expectations. Some years, I meet my targets and other years, well, life just happens.

Not that I’m bothered, I always shrugged my shoulders and think, ‘well, I have yet another day.’

And that’s what a new year is all about, yet another day.

2015 is not different, I have visions, but there is a change in me – I really want to enjoy this year, I have that determination to be happy, live each day at a time. Humans are essentially creations of habits, we tend to have certain ways of doing things and I’m not different. However, this year, I want to step out of my comfort zone and do something different (positive things! 🙂 ) that I wouldn’t normally do.

I also want to use this opportunity to appreciate you all. 2014 was a year that I went through a few personal struggles which most of you know about, but that’s what makes life what it is, sometimes unpredictable but overall enjoyable. Your love is what makes this earth a better place to live. I am grateful for your kindness friends, thank you everyone!

I love how Abraham Lincoln put it simply, ‘The future is living one day at a time.’ How right he was…

What visions do you have this year? I would really love to hear from you my friends.

I wish you a Happy New Year, I hope this year would be filled with love, laughter, and peace!

Much love, always! 🙂

The Double C

This picture calms me down, I’ve stared at it for days, it’s so beautiful!

This year would be the first Christmas without my dad. Apparently, it’s been eight months since his passing and I should have gotten used to it now but it hurt most when I know I can’t hear his voice. We were quite close and as this year is slowly rolling to an end, I wished I could hear him call my name softly; just one more time! *sigh*

My Dad

I miss you dad!

However, acknowledging my grief was a good thing, and it has helped me on the road to recovery. Some days, it was unbearable, other days I limped through it. Then last week, while I was doing the dishes and listening to a song called ‘hallelujah,’ I was overwhelmed and burst into tears but my spirit then envisioned my dad at peace and with Jesus, immediately, my tears stopped and I felt better than I had in months. I still miss him, and it still hurt, but I have that confidence that he’s at peace.

I hope I’m not dampening your Christmas spirit, if I am, just stop reading, 🙂 but there’s a miracle in blogging to friends whatever situation you’re in. A trouble shared is a trouble solved, I think I’ve read that somewhere. 🙂

Now with that off my chest, I saw this picture about two days ago and I absolutely love it. Christ is real, and He’s the reason for Christmas, that’s why I titled this post the double C, ‘Christ for Christmas.’ I don’t think political correctness should still be at play in this beautiful season, and if it is, that’s a shame.

I love this picture

I wish everyone a beautiful and Merry Christmas, to all my Christian friends, I pray the Joy and hope Jesus gives would be yours forever, to my non-Christian friends, I wish you a peaceful and happy holidays.

Much love, always! 🙂

”It is said that in 1923, seven of the world’s most successful men met at a Chicago hotel: the president of the largest independent steel company, the president of the largest utility company, the greatest wheat speculator, the president of the New York Stock Exchange, a member of the President’s Cabinet, the president of the Bank of International Settlements and the president of the world’s greatest monopoly. Collectively these tycoons controlled more money than there was in the United States’ Treasury.

Now, fast forward 25 years and let’s see what happened to them. Charles Schwab, president of the largest independent steel company, lived the last five years of his life on borrowed money and died a pauper. Arthur Cooger, the greatest wheat speculator, shot himself. Richard Whitney, president of the New York Stock Exchange, spent three years in prison. Albert Fall, a member of the President’s cabinet, went to prison for bribery. Leon Fraser, president of the U.S. Bank of International Settlements, shot himself. Ivan Kreuger, head of one of the world’s largest monopolies, also committed suicide. If the recent economic upheaval has taught us anything, it’s that money brings neither security nor happiness.”

I agree with the writer of the above stories that we ought to use our money to reach a hurting world with love because that’s the essence of life, the only way we could truly live. I read this a few weeks back and it had a profound effect on me and I thought, why not throw this open and find out what others think?

Now I’ve got a question for you guys! Where do you think you’ll be in 25 years? I get to choose the best answer and whosoever got this right and I’m sure many would. 🙂 would enter my world of creation, which means that I’ll use the best answer to write a short story based on the commenter’s vision of the kind of life he or she would be living in 25 years’ time.

In the meantime, you can all listen to these awesome guys, their song is truly refreshing! You can achieve a lot if you put your mind to it! And in 25 years, you could be on top of the world…

I know I’m creature of impulse but I just feel like doing this! 🙂

So where do I think I’ll be 25 years time? Hmmmnn, I wonder…

Love you always guys! 🙂

Don’t Feed The Troll!!!

You Can Soar Above Your Haters!

You Can Soar Above Your Haters!

I love cartoons, and I watched one today with my kids called, ‘Wander Over Yonder,’ it’s hilarious! My kids loved it, and I did too. The story was not quiet childish though. There was a lovely planet inhabited by goats, every year, a troll would come visiting and steal all their food. These goats were strong, and very brave but so fickle minded they could hardly take an unkind word. The troll would insult them, and the more they listened and fight back, the more the troll grew bigger and stronger!

That’s more like us isn’t it? When we listen to haters, they have the upper hand, when we ignore them, believe me, they would disappear! Words hurt, I know, but we can rise above the hatred, we can fight by ignoring evil people because when we trade insults, they would grow stronger.

The goats were finally able to destroy the troll – they simply ignored it. It was an ‘it.’ That’s right, some haters are ‘it,’ inconsequential, powerless. Believe me, sometimes, maybe many times, we encourage people to hurt us… We could always change that by not feeding their hatred! We can soar above them.

I learnt a valuable lesson today, I hope someone, somewhere is reading this, and they can just get on with their lives, leaving the trolls behind!

Children are on summer holiday, mine included, which explains why I’ve not updated my blog in a while. However, I’ve been visiting as many blogs as I could and would continue to do so when my troops allow it.

Have a wonderful week my friends! 🙂

Much love, always!

In The Beginning… There Was Nothing…

---

That was how it was.

The Beginning of time. Time is predominately the controller of our destiny, but then, I believe that in life, time would not have meaning without proper documentation. Therein lies the work of a writer. I’d always told all who cared to listen that I would die a writer, and I mean it. If I become the Prime Minister today, I won’t feel fulfilled if I stopped writing. It’s like the air I breathe. Almost all my friends knew of the recent event in my life, and that really crippled me somewhat because I sort of lost that desire to write… I simply lost interest but now, I’m back and it’s as if I’ve never taken a hiatus, I guess I simply needed to rest.

With that out of the way. I’ve been graciously invited by Sherri Matthews of www.sherrimatthewsblog.com to join in a blog hop, she splashed my shy face on her blog a few weeks ago and today, she’s my muse! 🙂

Here’s the lovely Sherri!

Sherri

Isn’t she gorgeous?

Sherri has worked in both the legal and medical fields but her defining and most fulfilling career was that of full-time mum for many years to her three, now grown children. Widowed young, remarried twice more, Sherri has faced many challenges, both in her home country of England and in California, where she lived and raised her family for almost 20 years.

The call of the pen beckoned throughout but it wasn’t until 2011 when Sherri lost her job due to office closure and her daughter was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome that she began to pursue her writing dream.

Now, while writing her first book*, Sherri writes articles, poetry, short-stories and flash fiction, some of which have been published in national UK magazines (Prima and Your Cat), as well as writing on her blog, ‘A View From My Summerhouse’.  She also guest blogs for a variety of websites.

Today, Sherri lives, writes, walks, gardens and takes endless photographs in the West Country of England, happily with her husband, daughter, two cats and a corn-snake called Charlie (her daughter’s, acquired after many years of persuasion).

In Sherri’s words, she passionately describes her writing career as progressive: Read that here:

”I can best define my writing process in a few short words: I fly by the seat of my pants. I struggle to rein in my writing discipline and have yet to attain a working balance, even though on an ideal day I get all my off-blog writing completed first thing in the morning before I dare check my emails.

However, ideal days don’t happen very often. So many writing projects vie for my attention and I know this is all-too common for many writers. I am learning, I hope, to listen to the writing voice that yells the loudest!

The problem is that I could write all day (on my book) and nothing else would get done. When I decide to take a ‘quick look’ on my blog, the day is lost. Certainly, I write every day. Just not on my book.

This is something I am working on changing and hope to achieve in the very near future. A cottage by the sea for six months without any internet would be very nice…maybe!

Still, I am making progress, albeit slowly! As I press on with my book, I am soon to have a poem and a ‘slice of life’ story published in two anthologies. I am also pursing ideas for putting together some of my poems, photographs and musings borne out of my private struggles (in pain and joy) while helping my beautiful ‘Aspie’ daughter navigate through life.

It is only recently that I dared to call myself a ‘Writer’. Ultimately, I pursue the holy grail of writing so that I might, one day, be able to say that I am a ‘Published Author’.”

You can find a lot about Sherri on this awesome sites:

Sherri is a fantastic friend and a precocious writer. I can’t wait to devour her book when it’s out, hope you would too. Do me a favour and stop by her site to see what I’ve raved about! 🙂

It’s good to be back blogging fully. I would still be stopping by your blogs as soon as I could! Much love to you my friends and do enjoy the rest of this rainy week (at least in London!)

Peace! 🙂

”I hope everyone that is reading this is having a really good day. And if you are not, just know that in every new minute that passes you have an opportunity to change that.”

Gillian Anderson

This is perhaps the longest post title I’ve written since I started this blog. I believe we have the will power to do something about how we’re feeling. It’s up to us really, to see the beauty of creation; or war! But before I stop and close my laptop, I remember a C.S Lewis’s quote that I stumble upon a few years ago, it goes like this:

”It may be hard for an egg to turn into a bird: it would be a jolly sight harder for it to learn to fly while remaining an egg. We are like eggs at present. And you cannot go on indefinitely being just an ordinary, decent egg. We must be hatched or go bad.”

These two quotes means different things. I wonder what you think of each one. How do you think it applies to you and me?

Ruminate on it this weekend and do let me know your thoughts! 🙂

Also, a blogger friend plastered my shy face on his blog a couple of hours ago, please do me a favour and hop over to read it. Chris Graham has a heart of gold (we all do! 🙂 ) And he did this out of the goodness of his heart. Please like and share it! 🙂

If The Sky Should Fall…

Have you ever felt an intense feeling where you can hardly breathe and nothing else matters? Where you feel taller, more beautiful, and the mountains could take a hike for all you care? Where you seem to float endlessly in the midst of continuous, uninterrupted bliss?
I felt like that when I first met my husband. I loved him with everything and I believe I could attain the impossible with him by my side…
Pass forward…. twenty-one years later.
Do I still feel like that? Do I blush when I look into his ever youthful face? Do I shiver with emotions when I stare into his brown eyes which seemed to dance  with merry? Do I have the time to skip with him and steal him away from life’s endless concern?
Oh yeah… 🙂 I still do. And I consider myself fortunate! Although we have a very easy relationship, my husband knows I’m also blessed with friends who would stand by me when I need them. Why? Because I’ll do the same. I invest a lot in my relationships – not necessarily to get a healthy return but because I enjoy making people happy. And I want to use this medium to appreciate you the reader, my friends. 🙂 I am one lucky woman to be blessed with such awesome, lovely people. So if the sky should fall, I am safe, and you are too! 🙂
If the sky we look upon
Should tumble and fall
Oh and the mountains should crumble to the sea
I won’t cry, I won’t cry, no I won’t shed a tear
Just as long as you stand, stand by me

I hope this week would be peaceful, joyful and that we would achieve our goals! I intend to have a pleasant week, and I sincerely wish you the same!
Much love, always!
🙂 🙂

In Search Of Innocence

John Revisted (part 1)

I first heard the news on TV, that a  3-year-old boy had disappeared at Edinburg overnight, (this was a few days ago) my heart was in my mouth and when the police revealed that they weren’t looking for little Mikaeel Kular anymore, my heart sank. (To some, this is stale news but I couldn’t get the face of the boy from my mind) I’m the kind of woman who believes in the impossible, miraculous acts that usually astound and even confound the most obstinate heart. However, the story of this little, innocent boy hit me hard.

You may wonder why, I am not in any way related to the Kulars, but I am a mother, who had experienced the loss of a child, although not in that way. You may read of my true story here: https://seyisandradavid.org/2012/11/14/death-and-the-angels-of-mercy/

The most disturbing aspect of the story, is this,  the mother seems to be the major suspect, I don’t want to delve too much into the story of the mother or what propelled her into such an atrocious act but of that innocent boy. Someone once commented that people shouldn’t be taken on facial values (whatever that means!) and that no one should be trusted, in a way, the commenter could be right. We live in a very dangerous world but I am forever an optimist, and would remain so, even in the face of outright evil. Mikaeel must have loved his family, but something went wrong and now he is no more. Whatever the circumstances of his passing, I believe he’s at peace now, safe from harm.

I only hope we live in a world where the innocent would not pay for the sins of the wicked and like Louis Armstrong’s song, we do live in a wonderful world minus the murderers, perverts and the indescribable.  Although our world is often tainted by evil, we can do our bit to make it a better place, by being our brother’s keeper – watching out for others in our own little way… endlessly searching for the innocent… helping the homeless, like the man in the picture… That way, the innocents would be safe from the onslaught of wicked people!

Light From Within…

9513622951_98e962b842_o

Darkness couldn’t snuff out that light

A light so bright it blot out all pain

Light so bright, it hid my sin.

Sickness couldn’t blot out that light,

Death failed in its grip,

It couldn’t blot out that light

The light is from within

The light of hope

The light of love,

The light of kindness.

Allow your light to shine

Be the hope of strangers,

Be the strength of the poor

When you allow that light from within,

You’ll neither know sorrow nor sadness

For the king of ages

Himself,

Would be your

Light From Within…

This year is slowly drawing to a close. It’s been eventful, at times painful but I am thankful for my family and friends. We’ve all had a blast. I have 10,000 reasons to thank God, I could list all the reasons but then you would be bored! In all, I love you all and appreciate your love and friendships! Let Your Light Shine… 🙂

Have a fantastic 2014!

Much love,

Always! 🙂
