Treasured Links

”The truth is that we can learn to condition our minds, bodies, and emotions to link pain or pleasure to whatever we choose. By changing what we link pain and pleasure to, we will instantly change our behaviours.”

Tony Robbins

Our pursuit of wealth (or survival as my dad called it) in life is ridiculously overshadowed by things that ought to be more valuable to us like family, friends, and scheduled times to reflect and truly enjoy life. We work all day, some of us are doing two jobs to make ends meet and that doesn’t really mean we would have enough. The only thing certain in life is time, and at a point, that would also end.

Time is certainly cruel. It flies by quickly and before we know it, the tangible things left are links. But some of us destroy those links, how, you may ask? By what we choose to link our minds and memories to.

If a poor man chooses to link his memories to struggles, he may find it difficult to actually overcome poverty. And if a rich guy links his mind to his wealth, he would lose himself in the pool of his assets, and everything else would pale into insignificance. Basically, everything still boils down to our choice and perception in life.

So friends, link wisely! 🙂

I haven’t been able to write an article for a while because of certain projects I’ve been involved in, which would be wrapped up soon in the first quarter of next year, God willing. I know I’ve missed a lot of awesome posts. I’ve begun the pleasurable journey of visiting as many blogs as time would allow, I can’t wait to read to my heart’s content.

I hope you’ll all have a Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year. Hopefully, I would write one or two articles before the end of this year. Live free and enjoy every bit of your moment on this part of heaven.

Much love to you all! 🙂

”It is said that in 1923, seven of the world’s most successful men met at a Chicago hotel: the president of the largest independent steel company, the president of the largest utility company, the greatest wheat speculator, the president of the New York Stock Exchange, a member of the President’s Cabinet, the president of the Bank of International Settlements and the president of the world’s greatest monopoly. Collectively these tycoons controlled more money than there was in the United States’ Treasury.

Now, fast forward 25 years and let’s see what happened to them. Charles Schwab, president of the largest independent steel company, lived the last five years of his life on borrowed money and died a pauper. Arthur Cooger, the greatest wheat speculator, shot himself. Richard Whitney, president of the New York Stock Exchange, spent three years in prison. Albert Fall, a member of the President’s cabinet, went to prison for bribery. Leon Fraser, president of the U.S. Bank of International Settlements, shot himself. Ivan Kreuger, head of one of the world’s largest monopolies, also committed suicide. If the recent economic upheaval has taught us anything, it’s that money brings neither security nor happiness.”

I agree with the writer of the above stories that we ought to use our money to reach a hurting world with love because that’s the essence of life, the only way we could truly live. I read this a few weeks back and it had a profound effect on me and I thought, why not throw this open and find out what others think?

Now I’ve got a question for you guys! Where do you think you’ll be in 25 years? I get to choose the best answer and whosoever got this right and I’m sure many would. 🙂 would enter my world of creation, which means that I’ll use the best answer to write a short story based on the commenter’s vision of the kind of life he or she would be living in 25 years’ time.

In the meantime, you can all listen to these awesome guys, their song is truly refreshing! You can achieve a lot if you put your mind to it! And in 25 years, you could be on top of the world…

I know I’m creature of impulse but I just feel like doing this! 🙂

So where do I think I’ll be 25 years time? Hmmmnn, I wonder…

Love you always guys! 🙂

Contentment!

My husband is like my reservoir of inspiration, a few days ago we were talking about wealth, its distribution and the unfairness of life in general and he said and I quote:

‘You know there are people who live on less than a dollar a day and others live on millions a day!’

I raised my eyebrows in disbelief and he continued,

‘Lakshmin Mittal (UK’s richest Asian) bought a property (around 2008) worth £117 million pound for his son and got a £70 million property for his daughter. The guy is rich but that’s not where I’m going… Is he contented with his life?’

‘I bet I’ll be if I have that kind of money!’ I quipped in with a smile.

My husband grin then continued,

‘In a remote village in Nigeria, a farmer could be living on less than a dollar a day, take care of his wife and children. Eat and breathe on his farm, and believe me, this farmer could be more contented with his life than our rich Mittal.’

I nodded in agreement and he continued but I’m not going to write everything we talked about that night. When we went to sleep, I couldn’t remove the image of the farmer from my mind – such a simple, uncomplicated life… and I wonder how many of us can live without our iPads, iPhones, Apple laptops etc.

Don’t get me wrong, wealth is good but when we attach the success of our lives to material wealth, it’s a tragedy. And this brings me to this wonderful quote from Dalai Lama:

‘When you are discontent, you always want more, more, more. Your desire can never be satisfied. But when you practice contentment, you can say to yourself, ‘Oh yes – I already have everything that I really need.’

I hope you’ll all enjoy the rest of this week. I’m almost through with packing (we recently moved house) and If you look on the sidebar of my website, you’ll see the image of my new book, Cydonia, you can pre-order  before it’s official launching date on the 16th of this month.

Keep smiling and keep loving my friends!

Much love, always!
