In Search Of Innocence

John Revisted (part 1)

I first heard the news on TV, that a  3-year-old boy had disappeared at Edinburg overnight, (this was a few days ago) my heart was in my mouth and when the police revealed that they weren’t looking for little Mikaeel Kular anymore, my heart sank. (To some, this is stale news but I couldn’t get the face of the boy from my mind) I’m the kind of woman who believes in the impossible, miraculous acts that usually astound and even confound the most obstinate heart. However, the story of this little, innocent boy hit me hard.

You may wonder why, I am not in any way related to the Kulars, but I am a mother, who had experienced the loss of a child, although not in that way. You may read of my true story here: https://seyisandradavid.org/2012/11/14/death-and-the-angels-of-mercy/

The most disturbing aspect of the story, is this,  the mother seems to be the major suspect, I don’t want to delve too much into the story of the mother or what propelled her into such an atrocious act but of that innocent boy. Someone once commented that people shouldn’t be taken on facial values (whatever that means!) and that no one should be trusted, in a way, the commenter could be right. We live in a very dangerous world but I am forever an optimist, and would remain so, even in the face of outright evil. Mikaeel must have loved his family, but something went wrong and now he is no more. Whatever the circumstances of his passing, I believe he’s at peace now, safe from harm.

I only hope we live in a world where the innocent would not pay for the sins of the wicked and like Louis Armstrong’s song, we do live in a wonderful world minus the murderers, perverts and the indescribable.  Although our world is often tainted by evil, we can do our bit to make it a better place, by being our brother’s keeper – watching out for others in our own little way… endlessly searching for the innocent… helping the homeless, like the man in the picture… That way, the innocents would be safe from the onslaught of wicked people!

”The unthankful heart… discovers no mercies; but let the thankful heart sweep through the day and, as the magnet finds the iron, so it will find, in every hour, some heavenly blessings!” — Henry Ward Beecher

In light of Beecher’s quote,  I want to appreciate everyone who helped make my new book a huge success. It’s still an on-going process but the success of a great book rest not only on the written word but the advert preceding the release and after.

I want to specially appreciate Alastair Forbes – http://Kattermoran.com, he was and still a huge source of inspiration to me. Prior to the release of Cydonia: Rise of the fallen, he blogged about it incessantly, he’d also written a review on Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk. I also want to thank Celestine of ‘Readingpleasure’ who promised to write a post about it and buy a copy from Amazon. Also Ken of WriteOutLoud, you’re a darling. Pamela Beckford of http://pamela984.wordpress.com is still reading as we speak. Ste J is still waiting for the PDF copy, I’ll send it soon I swear! 🙂 To Uzoma, a poet and a great writer, thanks for reading. To several others who requested a copy, I’ll send it soon I promise! 🙂

To many others, I appreciate you, I am grateful for your friendship and kindness. You don’t even have to buy my book or review it. The mere fact that I could write something and people visit my website is enough to spur me on. As of now, my publisher is speaking to a few producers on Film rights on Cydonia… I know it’s still early days yet but I think the book is going to be massive.

I still need all the advert and PR I can get. The Press release would be out soon, the eBook version would be released within days so is the book trailer but in the main time, if you’re interested in reading a massive 644 pages of thriller to your heart’s content, here’s the link on Amazon US:

Well, like a friend would say ( I won’t mention his name… ;)… Enough said… 🙂

How’s everyone preparing for Christmas? On my end, I haven’t done any shopping. Moving home and releasing a new book seemed to have sent me off track but I’ll retrace my steps and do a few shopping now. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and if you’re not a Christian, have a happy holiday…

Just got my internet sorted out so I’ll start visiting more blogs now… Take care of yourselves guys and don’t get into trouble! 🙂

Much love, always! 🙂

Dancing In The Wind…

1422037_33878856 arifhasan

Majestic, in bloom, in glory!

Full, proud, ever-present?

Completely nonchalant,

to the groaning of the grass.

Dancing in the wind

With the brides of breeze.

Gaily, pouting, showing of!

‘How beautiful I look!’

Thought the flower.

‘And how quickly you fade…’ scoffed the grass.

‘You’re just jealous of my beauty!’ the flower screeched.

‘No, am not,’ replied the grass, ‘it’s just the law of nature.’

‘Huh!’

**************

Well… flowers fades, beauty fades (in humans), and I reckon the flower in the this short poetic musing is apparently enjoying itself (?) And the grass is ‘apparently’ telling ‘it’ off. More like life, be happy for those who are happy and show compassion for the weak, that’s just my take on it.

My kids are on holiday in a few hours, a week early, their school is constructing extra classrooms due to the ever-expanding London population. I’m not dreading it, they would hopefully, help me read my mountainous manuscripts! I now have a whole month off from my grumpy editor, Barbara! (she’ll probably kill me if she reads this!)

I appreciate your friendship guys, may you find peace this weekend. Enjoy today dear friends and have a great weekend!

NP: I rarely do this but do buy a few copies of ‘Tales OF Five Lies’ if you love psychological thrillers, you can get it on this link:  http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tales-Five-Lies-Sandra-David/dp/147932132X/ref=tmm_pap_title_0  or just click on the cover on the sidebar. It’s less than a pound, and a quick summer read and if you’re in the States, it’s less than 99cents, or better still, go for the full length novel, which a reviewer  described as, ‘ a fluid and enjoyable read,’

‘The Feet Of Darkness,’ http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Feet-Of-Darkness-ebook/dp/B00BJ6LJHC/ref=tmm_kin_title_0?ie=UTF8&qid=1374233926&sr=1-1 (Amazon UK)

http://www.amazon.com/The-Feet-Of-Darkness-ebook/dp/B00BJ6LJHC (Amazon US) It’s also available on major online retailer and several brick and mortar shops!

My publisher, Arrow Gate, recently released a fantastic press release a few weeks back, you can check it and share please! http://www.prweb.com/releases/thefeetofdarkness/arrowgatepublishing/prweb10879291.htm

Much love, always.

The Life Of A Writer!

450115_13777582

My first novel, ‘The Impossible President,’ was published by Regency publisher in Nigeria, I invited the wife of the former Vice President then, Mrs Titi Atiku, and some governors’ wives and they came. It was a very big book launch and I made some cool money, sales was good, I sold out of my first print run! However, that was in Nigeria. When I decided to finally call the UK home, I got pregnant with my second child… she gently slipped into the world with no fuss, she is a quiet pleasant girl.

My daughter gave no fuss which gave me ample time to hone my craft, so I began work on the ‘The Feet Of Darkness’ and got in contact with Author House to see what they’ll do to help. I had a nasty experience with them! I wasn’t the only author, I think there were others like me who were fleeced off their hard-earned cash and hung to dry. Author House agreed to publish the novel and despite the fact that it was a first draft, unedited, they rushed me to complete it, they promised it would be edited! It was part of my publishing package. I did and sent it off and when the novel came out, I wasn’t happy with the result and I blamed myself for my gullibility. Things moved on rapidly and I licked my wounds to concentrate on something else but the novel stayed on my mind.

Two years later, I finished work on another novel, ‘Cydonia, Rise Of the Fallen’ (Arrow Gate would release it by summer) but ‘The Feet Of Darkness,’ sat comfortably on my shelf! Finally, I decided to re-edit and sent it off to various publishers before Arrow Gate snapped it up.

Good news? Yes, you can imagine my dismay when Amazon now placed it beside the kindle edition and the problem is, I don’t like the first edition, if I had my way I would remove it from amazon, I tried to but Author House claimed they can’t help me. To make things worse, I don’t get a dime when they sell the first edition of the paperback, the money probably goes to Author House (I’d cancelled my contract with Author House by the way)

This was the cover of the first edition, though it looked okay but mistakes abound in it! Well, I’m glad I got that off my chest, I can’t wait for the new paperback edition…

Much love friends!

🙂

Tales Of Five Lies And Stepping Into Greatness!

 Tales Of Five Lies

I want to give you my readers, few nuggets to chew on my book, aptly titled, ”Tales Of Five Lies.” And for the record, nobody can predict the end of the world, so why not enjoy yourselves, tuck into your turkey and march into your glorious future!

Excerpts;

It was a dark and lonely place. Time dragged on excruciatingly slow and I was contemplating going back to my comfortable bed when I saw a man darting behind a tree. All my senses came alive and I watched with apprehension, my hand on the gun my dad gave me before he died. I always take it with me as a safety measure.

I stood still watching every movement the man made, I noticed he glanced round briefly, apparently satisfied he was alone then he whistled. Two men emerged from the shadows dragging a bulging bag between them. My mind went wild with all kinds of theory, what could they be burying at that time of the night and how on earth did my best friend got a whiff of their plans? Something was not right, I could feel it deep within my bones.

They got a secluded spot and began digging…
