Paid In Full…

Light, green and red

I heard this story yesterday evening and after careful research, I found out that the story is true but it has been embellished over the years. Nonetheless, the message inherent in the story is still commendable and I just want to share it with my friends.

Here it goes:

‘One day, a poor boy who was selling goods from door to door to pay his way through school, found he had only one dime left, and he was hungry. He decided he would ask for a meal at the next house. However, he lost his nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door.
Instead of a meal he asked for a drink of water. She thought he looked hungry so she brought him a large glass of milk.
He drank it slowly, and then asked, “How much do I owe you?”
“You don’t owe me anything,” she replied. “Mother has taught us never to accept pay for a kindness.”
He said, “Then I thank you from my heart.”
As Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt stronger physically, but his faith in God and man was strong also. He had been ready to give up and quit.
Year’s later that young woman became critically ill. The local doctors were baffled. They finally sent her to the big city, where they called in specialists to study her rare disease.
Dr. Howard Kelly was called in for the consultation. When he heard the name of the town she came from, a strange light filled his eyes. Immediately he rose and went down the hall of the hospital to her room.
Dressed in his doctor’s gown he went in to see her. He recognized her at once. He went back to the consultation room determined to do his best to save her life. From that day he gave special attention to the case.
After a long struggle, the battle was won. Dr. Kelly requested the business office to pass the final bill to him for approval. He looked at it, then wrote something on the edge and the bill was sent to her room.
She feared to open it, for she was sure it would take the rest of her life to pay for it all. Finally she looked, and something caught her attention on the side of the bill. She began to read the following words:

“Paid in full with one glass of milk”

Signed, Dr. Howard Kelly.

”Kindness is not a gift, it’s a choice.” Sam Adeyemi.

This week, as you go about your daily activities, let love and kindness fill your heart, and you would indeed save a life, maybe it could be your life you’ll be saving. I love you all and do have a fantastic week!

Much love, always!

My Hearfelt Wish!

‘Happy birthday mom!’

My eleven year old son congratulated me this morning, gave me a bear hug, a kiss, money, and cards as presents. My husband, daughter, little son did the same!

I’m really rich now! 😉

Anyway, my son had this amused look on his face when he asked,

‘Mom what do you really wished for today?’

I looked at him, he’s going to secondary next September, and he knows me like the palm of his hands. I didn’t answer him, rather, I went downstairs, opened the door and staring at my lawn, I saw images of people of all nations, ethnic groups, hugging each other and Louis Armstrong’s ‘What a wonderful world’ came to my mind.

I see trees of green…….. red roses too
I see em bloom….. for me and for you
And I think to myself…. what a wonderful world.

I see skies of blue….. clouds of white
Bright blessed days….dark sacred nights
And I think to myself …..what a wonderful world.

The colours of a rainbow…..so pretty ..in the sky
Are also on the faces…..of people ..going by
I see friends shaking hands…..saying.. how do you do
They’re really saying……I love you.

I hear babies cry…… I watch them grow
They’ll learn much more…..than I’ll never know
And I think to myself …..what a wonderful world

The colours of a rainbow…..so pretty ..in the sky
Are there on the faces…..of people ..going by
I see friends shaking hands…..saying.. how do you do
They’re really saying…*spoken*(I ….love….you).

I hear babies cry…… I watch them grow
*spoken*(you know their gonna learn
A whole lot more than I’ll never know)
And I think to myself …..what a wonderful world
Yes I think to myself …….what a wonderful world.

I closed the door, and went upstairs, hugging him briefly, I said,

‘I want peace, love, and safety for all.’

He didn’t say anything. When he was ready to go to school, I had the strangest feeling. If I could physically stand before God today,  I’ll tell him the same,

‘I want peace, food, shelter and safety for all.’

I wish you’ll all have peace and safety wherever you are in the world, have a great week! I’m going to do a bit of shopping after work from my cash windfall. I love you all!

Peace. 🙂

The Borrowers

Ethan smiled and his blue eyes danced with glee, the contract was a done deal. He strode toward his private jet, a man with the world under his feet. He felt like he owned the universe but at the corner of his eyes, he saw a glimmer… And that was the last thing he remembered…

++ ++ ++ ++

Raja hid under the bed, his heart beating with fury, but his impotent rage would achieve nothing. He gritted his teeth and dug his nails into the brown smelly carpet. Then the men came in stealthily, searching for their target, their cold ruthless eyes noticed a flicker of a movement.

And they smiled.

Then the rapid sound of gunfire reverberated throughout the estate…

++ ++ ++ ++

Jonathan stretched his long taunt body on the sofa, his accountant breathing down his neck in excitement.
‘We did it,’ Jonathan said with a boyish grin. Two hundred million pounds worth of cocaine had sailed through unscathed.

Then the accountant’s smile slowly faded like a receding shadow.

‘Honey,’ his new wife called from the bedroom, ‘I’m waiting!’
Jonathan stood to his feet and then saw the gun,

His heart froze.

‘The glory that goes with wealth is fleeting and fragile; virtue is a possession glorious and eternal.’ Sallust

I consider all men (by that I mean everyone!) as borrowers, we’re living on borrowed time. No one is going to physically live forever, and the earlier we let that sink into our subconscious mind, the better for us. When we realise how futile it is to wage wars, to keep malice and abhor love, I guess we’ve cracked the code to world peace!

I’m happy to be writing this, although I’m still navigating slowly through my deluge of deadlines but things are looking up. And I also have great news – I now have the official release date for my upcoming supernatural thriller, 16th of December 2013! I want to garner as many reviews as I can get, it always boost sales.

Please, if anyone is interested in giving a sincere review, do let me know and once my publisher releases the ARC (Advance Review Copies) I’ll send it to as many of my friends as possible. Thanks for your friendship, I’ve visited several blogs and enjoyed reading diverse and richly entertaining contents. I’ll still continue to do so, and if I’ve not stopped by yours, please bear with me and I’ll visit soon!

Enjoy the rest of your week and have a fantastic weekend!

Much love, always!

Why Can’t I Fly?

shutterstock_87665194

I read a brightly illustrated children’s book this morning titled, ‘Why Can’t I Fly‘ by Ken Brown and I learnt a lot of lessons. The story is about a discontented ostrich who wanted to fly at all cost. Ostrich continually failed to appreciate his many good qualities, the only thing he cared about – is flying and he tried this repeatedly with disastrous results. He built himself a flying apparatus, yet, he failed still, then a miracle came, his efforts were rewarded when he tried again with his flying apparatus and he was flying, overjoyed, he yelled for his friends to see him flying, he wanted to prove to them that he could fly but lo and behold, his friends were nowhere to be found, why?

Because they were carrying his apparatus, all of them! And it made me realise that life is too complex to go at it alone, let’s not be like the Ostrich, who failed to realise his many good qualities, let’s surround ourselves with friends and loved ones. The life of a loner is a terrible one.

I hope you’ll all have a fun-filled week, as for me, I’m on the bed with my right feet swollen – I fell down the stairs yesterday on my way to church. It’s nothing serious, a pack of ice and some Ibuprofen has done the trick, the downside is I can’t  move around as such because I walk funny but the plus side is, I’m not going to work and the kids are on holiday! 🙂 Hooray!!

Have fun and much love, always!

Shadows In The Spring

Hmmm

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost,
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots cannot be reached by the frost,
.. from the ashes a fire shall be woken,
a light from the shadows shall spring.
Renewed shall be the blade that was broken.
The crownless again shall be king.”

By J.R.R Tolkien

I saw this quote on FB and it rang shrilly in my mind all day! The words are deep and in a way, I found the words hopeful, I hope you do too because everything is not as it seems, sometimes what you perceived to be a problem might actually be a blessing in disguise! My only wish for you this week my friends –  is strength, I hope you’ll have the strength to accomplish what you set out to do.

Have a fruitful and eventful week filled with love and laughter!

Your friend,

Seyi Sandra David. 🙂

Lonely Humans!

Our loves entwined

Our fate predictable…

We are one!

From one golden tower

From the root of life itself,

We grew.

Bear my pain, end our grudge

Strengthen our faith

Swallow our shame

Rekindle our love.

We are one!

We belong together…

 ********************

This picture speaks volume on its own. It reminded me of us – humans, we are from the same source, we need not be lonely. We belong together and the sooner we know that, the better for us. We can set ourselves apart, using all sorts of barriers – race, religious, ethnicity etc. But there is no denying that we are HUMANS and we do belong together!

Thanks for reading and do have a fantastic week!

Much love, always. 🙂

Inner Peace…

I sat by the lake and the wind caressed my face.

I played with my hands and listened to nature.

I surrounded myself with quietness.

The Lake lady appeared.

She sat beside me and asked,

‘Are you troubled?’

‘No, I’m not,’

I replied with a vigorous shake of my head.

‘I was looking for peace,’ I added.

‘Only you can give yourself peace,’ She said

‘Yeah, I know and now I have it,’ I told her.

‘It’s noisy out there,’ she observed, and her eyes looked sad.

‘I don’t allow the noise get to me, I have found my peace.’ I said.

‘You’re the lucky one,’

‘There’s no such thing as luck, I decide to be at peace with myself

and the world I live in. It’s a beautiful world, I only need to open my eyes

and see.’

We listened to the sound of the lake.

And the mountains whisper,

‘Peace.’

This ‘poetic thought’ is symbolic, I hope you can get the true meaning. A place of peace is very easy. You’re the master of your destiny, you decide what course your life takes. You can have peace, if you want.

Have a nice weekend dear friends… Live well!

Much love, always. 🙂

Illusion…

Winter Trees at Sunset

We  rushed through our days,
We dashed through our nights,

We ploughed and worked through our years,

We toiled and built and heaped on wealth,

We didn’t wait to think;

What is the purpose of it all?

Is everything a mere illusion?

Is there purpose to this life?

Or do we just live like a leaf in the wind?

With no care in the world.

After all, a leaf has no illusion

Of the fate that awaits it.

But if we do wait and pause,

And behold the glory that surrounds us,

At the smile of a new-born,

Or the toothless grin of an old man,

Or the splendour of the morning,

We’ll surely know for a certainty…

That life is not an illusion.

There is a purpose to it all…

Much love dear friends. 🙂

You Can Be The Light!

Sun, God and Humans!

When darkness seems to engulf all around you.

You can be the light

When your heart beat rapidly like a Banjo drum.

You can be the light

When all thoughts of courage are far between.

You can be the light

When hopes, seems to fade into oblivion.

You can be the light.

In the midst of gloom and despair.

You can be the light

In the midst of darkness and tyranny.

You can be the light.

When you are the light,

your life, and path are secured.

Many times, I’ve looked to others to do something about a situation or things I find appalling, and when  I realise nobody is willing to do anything, I step in! I’m generalizing here. Aptly put,  what I’m trying to say is this, we can make a change… Things can get better if everyone puts in their quota to make this world a better place. Just a kind word, a smile, little coins here and there, can actually make a huge difference.

Have a pleasant, stress free weekend everyone… Here in the UK, we’re having a long weekend, there ‘s a bank holiday on Monday! (wooohooo!)

Live well dear friends.

Much love, always!

🙂

The Living Force!

joke Van someren

Claps of thunder ripped through the clear sky,

I shuddered at your feet, Majesty,

I bowed my head in

Utmost reverence.

I searched your face for clues of acceptance,

My heart broke into a thousand songs,

Ancient melodies escaped from my upturned mouth.

I turned to look and saw flashes of light danced through the morning sky.

You stood close to me and I gazed deep into the pool of your beauty!

You took me by the hand and whispered,

”My name is love, if only your kind have me in abundance,

How safe would your world be… How enduring! How peaceful.”

And you were gone, my heart pressed after you and I realised

A beautiful truth, ‘I have love in me.’

Do you?

There is always one message in my novels, before I write, I usually have a clear potent message I want to pass across, and I think all writers are preachers, we don’t just write in abstract, without meaning or purpose. My message in ‘The Feet Of Darkness’ is all about love, forgiveness, faith and hope.

Clues of this ‘thought plan’ as I call them abound in the novel. Why not go over to Amazon and read the first or so chapters, if you like it, give it a like and if you want to read more, you can buy it. You don’t need to have a kindle, you can read on your laptops, tablets, phones and iPad! You can click on the image of the novel on my sidebar or click on this link;

The second edition of the paperback will be out on second week in March and then there’s going to be a big party!!!

I love and appreciate you all!
