Avanlanche: The Fall…

Morning on Winter Landscape

The air was crisp and clean, the sky blue and clear. Amanda inhaled deeply, imagining the stress leaving her body. She watched her husband from the corner of her eyes: the sharp, well-shaped jaws, the bushy eyebrows, and the serious expression almost drew a chuckle but she clamped down on it.

It was their last day in Switzerland and against all odds, she had truly enjoyed herself. Now she had to confront her husband and tell him the real reason she wanted a divorce. They walked towards their cabin in silence as Amanda cleared her throat noisily. Pete gave her a quick sideways glance and opened the door.

Amanda strolled towards the sofa and sank into it, while Pete removed his gloves and boots.

‘I slept with Alex!’

Pete stood still like a statue, even the sweat on his brows froze in disbelief. He ground his teeth and approached his wife menacingly. Alex had been his friend from childhood. They were practically brothers, what a fool I’d been! He thought in anger but something held him in check, he didn’t believe it.

‘When?’ He mouthed the words and knelt in front of his wife, his eyes were incredibly dry and he looked very calm.

‘Three months ago…’ she closed her eyes briefly, ‘the night we had a fight on the phone.’

‘Where?’

‘I called him and he came over to the house.’ Amanda involuntarily put her hand to her mouth as if she’d said too much.

‘We made up when I got back Amanda!’ Pete said slowly, strangely, his anger had dissipated.

‘I know…’ and she began to cry, ‘for what’s worth, I had no recollection of it as such. I was wasted, very drunk.’

Pete made up his mind there and then to fight for his marriage but Amanda was not finished.

‘Three weeks later I found out I was pregnant.’

That was when Pete lost it. He picked Amanda up effortlessly and almost hurled her against the wall, she wailed on his shirt, expecting the worse, then like a China plate, he put her down gently. He hurriedly put his gloves on, wore his shoes and rushed out of the cabin.

Two hours later, there was a knock on the door, Amanda hurriedly opened it, worried sick. Standing calmly at the door were two Swiss officers, their expressions looked grim. Amanda crumpled to the floor in a faint…

………………….

NP: It wasn’t all bad news though! 🙂 Pete was trapped in an avalanche but luckily, he’d survived. Amanda gave birth to twin sons… Well, when she did the DNA paternity test, Pete was the father of her sons. Their marriage survived. Pete quit his job in the City, and now had his own company. They went through months of counselling and the last time I spoke to Pete, he sounded optimistic, but he confessed that it was hard. However, he loves his wife, he’d forgiven her and was determined to give their marriage a chance to heal.

Relationships are not easy, Amanda and Pete had made up their mind to fight for their marriage and I wish them the best. To all my friends all over the world, I won’t wish you love because today is Valentine, I’m wishing you love all year round. May your hearts find peace and joy!

Much love, always!

🙂

Infinity…

“All endings are also beginnings. We just don’t know it at the time.”
― Mitch Albom, The Five People You Meet In Heaven.

”My life flashed before my eyes.

I saw heaven and hell passed beneath my feet, I almost slipped on mould and blood.

My hatred flashed venoms at me, I gazed at hopes I thought gone, my blood boiled.

I bath with forgiveness and left bitterness behind.

I glided towards the void as life met my weakness.

Horrors assailed my sins and I bowed in pain.

What is my hope? When shall I see your face again?

Your cute rosy cheeks burned my skin and I flinched

as blood rushed to my cheeks.

I love you my angel…

But I know your end is only the beginning.

I’m determined to see you again, someday!”

******

Life is short… I always say that but I’ll take my words back today. Life is endless, it’s infinity and what we do really echoes through eternity. I tried to summarise my emotions into this poem, and you really have to be my friend, to really care and understand what I’m  trying to say.  A part of me passed away yesterday, a part I’ve never even met… a baby. My sister’s baby. I tried to hold it in but I couldn’t anymore. Believe me, I fought so hard and though I didn’t get to meet him and hold him in my arms, I felt him in my spirit.

His breath passed my face in my dreams.

“Holding anger is a poison…It eats you from inside…We think that by hating someone we hurt them…But hatred is a curved blade…and the harm we do to others…we also do to ourselves.”   ―     Mitch Albom

I love Mitch’s words because I was angry at the circumstances surrounding my sister’s baby but that’s life… And as much as I hate to write this post, I had to. But this year  has been good, and I’m still grateful for what God has enabled me to achieve.

I would still write another post before the end of this year, and if you’d endured my ramblings thus far, thanks for stopping by!

Much love, always!

My Hearfelt Wish!

‘Happy birthday mom!’

My eleven year old son congratulated me this morning, gave me a bear hug, a kiss, money, and cards as presents. My husband, daughter, little son did the same!

I’m really rich now! 😉

Anyway, my son had this amused look on his face when he asked,

‘Mom what do you really wished for today?’

I looked at him, he’s going to secondary next September, and he knows me like the palm of his hands. I didn’t answer him, rather, I went downstairs, opened the door and staring at my lawn, I saw images of people of all nations, ethnic groups, hugging each other and Louis Armstrong’s ‘What a wonderful world’ came to my mind.

I see trees of green…….. red roses too
I see em bloom….. for me and for you
And I think to myself…. what a wonderful world.

I see skies of blue….. clouds of white
Bright blessed days….dark sacred nights
And I think to myself …..what a wonderful world.

The colours of a rainbow…..so pretty ..in the sky
Are also on the faces…..of people ..going by
I see friends shaking hands…..saying.. how do you do
They’re really saying……I love you.

I hear babies cry…… I watch them grow
They’ll learn much more…..than I’ll never know
And I think to myself …..what a wonderful world

The colours of a rainbow…..so pretty ..in the sky
Are there on the faces…..of people ..going by
I see friends shaking hands…..saying.. how do you do
They’re really saying…*spoken*(I ….love….you).

I hear babies cry…… I watch them grow
*spoken*(you know their gonna learn
A whole lot more than I’ll never know)
And I think to myself …..what a wonderful world
Yes I think to myself …….what a wonderful world.

I closed the door, and went upstairs, hugging him briefly, I said,

‘I want peace, love, and safety for all.’

He didn’t say anything. When he was ready to go to school, I had the strangest feeling. If I could physically stand before God today,  I’ll tell him the same,

‘I want peace, food, shelter and safety for all.’

I wish you’ll all have peace and safety wherever you are in the world, have a great week! I’m going to do a bit of shopping after work from my cash windfall. I love you all!

Peace. 🙂

Beauty In The Midst Of Decadence

Angela rushed through the meadows, her brown hair flying in the wind, to a percipient onlooker, she’s the picture of perfection and beauty. I watched her keenly as Jasper pulled me along the rough footpath. The howling wind whipped my cheeks savagely and I glanced up at the gloomy sky. Suddenly, my skin began to crawl and I had one of the most uneasy sensations since I left the house with Jasper. I sensed danger, Jasper whined and began to bark. I looked round widely and spotted the brown-haired girl.

That was all I saw and I sprung to action, I ran as if my life depended on it, luckily, we got there on time. I caught hold of her legs and everything paled into a blur. I was  glad I acted when I did. I saved a girl from killing herself!

* * * * * *

The above story is mere fiction, but beautiful if one way or the other, we could interrupt tragedy and save a dying soul from despair. Angela was just 12 years old, and yet, she wanted to kill herself, why? Because of cyber bullying. We live in such a fast-moving world, it’s scary sometimes. I was a virgin when I entered university and met my husband, but kids of today have had sexual relations as young as 9 years old! Though I believe we can still preserve the beauty and innocence of our children,  we just have to create more time and let them know we care about even the mundane details of their lives. I was a teenager once, so I know the feeling. As a parent, I care about young people and pray that we would do enough to make this world a better place, but I believe it starts from the home front, don’t you think?

Next week, I’ll be promoting some author friends, if anyone is interested in joining in my little adventure please drop a message on my contact page! Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

NP: I have had a very busy but interesting week and must have missed lots of awesome posts! Please bear with me friends, I’ll stop by your blogs as soon as I can!! 😉

Much love, always.

A Child’s Heart.

 If children live with
criticism, they learn to condemn.

If children live with hostility, they learn to
fight.

If children live with fear, they learn to be
apprehensive.

If children live with pity, they learn to feel
sorry for themselves.

If children live with ridicule, they learn to feel
shy.

If children live with jealousy, they learn to feel
envy.

If children live with shame, they learn to feel
guilty.

If children live with encouragement, they learn
confidence.

If children live with fairness, they

learn justice.

If children live with security, they learn

have faith.

If children live with tolerance, they learn
patience.

If children live with praise, they learn
appreciation.

If children live with acceptance, they learn to
love.

If children live with approval, they learn to like
themselves.

If children live with recognition, they learn it is
good to have a goal.

If children live with sharing, they learn
generosity.

If children live with acceptance and friendship, they learn

to find love in the world.

                                            Dorothy Law Nolte.

I read this poem over and over again. Imagine a world where children live free from fear, when they grow up, they would impact the same to their children and the world would be a better place indeed!

Thank you for reading my post dear friends.

Love always:)

6.am, January 26, 2002.

This is a true story, please read on.

They left their house optimistic about the new baby that would soon grace their home, the husband helped his beaming, but heavily pregnant wife into their brand new Toyota Carina‘s car and they zoomed out of their new house en route the hospital.

12 hours later… At 11pm. The baby’s head was not descending.

”Too big,” the junior doctor on duty murmured and decided on a caesarean section, a process where they would surgically remove the baby. They paged the consultant who came to the hospital within fifteen minutes. As the wife was slowly wheeled into the theatre, she saw her husband by the door, he looked tired and petrified, he had been a sentry all day at the hospital reception, waiting for his wife and new son to come out.

She touched his hand and whispered with tears in her eyes, ”I am so sorry, I tried,”

”It’s okay darling, I’ll be waiting for you, I love you,” and he kissed her on the cheek, and she disappeared into the theatre, and the battle began.

A forty-five minutes operation turned into two, three, four hours… The anaesthetic applied was three times over the limit and the drug shut down her heart, the mistake was to set in motion a series of errors which ended in tragedy…

*******

The consultant’s brows creased up in a frown, everything that could go wrong did, and he was very close to this particular patient, he was quite fond of her and her new husband. What he loved about them was their love for each other, so he would do everything within his power to make sure she did not die on his watch.

”Time of death, 2.21 am,” a young doctor announced, he had been on his feet all day,  he’d managed a toasted bread since morning and was teetering towards exhaustion. Nurses had been on strike at the general hospital for a week, and he had been on duty almost every day, keeping his eyelids open was a herculean task.

”No,” the consultant snapped,  ”charge the defibrillator to two hundred.” They did, and there was a beeping sound on the machine, which indicated the heart was regularly beating, sighs of relief permeated the atmosphere as the consultant worked feverishly to bring the baby out. With that part over, the baby who was blue due to lack of oxygen was quickly taken to the neonatal intensive care. The doctor was sewing her up when there was another flat line.

The stubborn doctor performed external chest compression, and the defibrillator ( a machine used to send an electric shock to the heart to make it work again) was used to charge her heart again, and it worked, but only for a few minutes and the third time her heart stopped, the doctor wanted to call it. He asked a nurse to page another consultant while he ordered one of the junior doctors to start external chest compression and he fled the theatre.

Outside, he saw the husband sitting down, looking lost and very tired. When the husband heard approaching footsteps, he jumped to his feet and blurted out.

”How is my wife, is she okay?” The doctor swallowed hard before replying.

”There was a technical problem about the anaesthetic, and I am so sorry.” But the words got stuck in his throat, he couldn’t bring himself to say his wife was dead. Instead, he grabbed his hands and promised, ”your wife would be fine, have you seen your son?”

”Yes,” the husband replied with his voice trembling, ”he doesn’t look too good,”

The doctor nodded and rushed back to the theatre, the junior doctor was still performing the compressions. The consultant took over as two senior doctors entered the theatre, and they fought to save the life of this young wife.

*****

7th February 2002.

The husband sat down in his living room surrounded by family and friends, they prayed, they cried, and they left.

And he was alone… there was no crying of a newborn infant, just dead silence.

He sat alone, staring into space. And then his wife walked in from the room, and he stood up, they hugged.

He was no longer alone. Their son did not survive, but the wife did. They have another chance to start again, they mourned for Angel, their son, but knew they would see him again on heaven’s shores.

03 December 2002.

Eleven months later, they welcomed another son into their home, and their joy was full, it was a miracle.

Four years later, a daughter came and another four years later, another son.

And they said the Lord has been merciful…

I was (is) that woman… And my husband… well he was (is) the…husband. I believe in second chances, I was dead, but I am alive again! Don’t you think that was so sweet?
