And I watched…

Face of courage

And I watched through the centuries as men

protected their young, their women, their homes.

And I watched as men built kingdoms, roads and empires.

And I watched as men walked the moon, save the sick, put food on the table.

And I watched in awe as great men worked tirelessly,

To save the world.

Men of timber and calibre, men who love with simplicity.

Men who shoulder responsibilities without squirming.

Men with the courage of lions who turned away from no foes.

And I watched my dad, husband, sons, brothers, relatives, friends

Try to live their footprints in the sands of time.

I love men.

I married one, a daughter to one, a mother to two.

Men are great, and the few and rotten who rape women,

who kill and plunder are not MEN.

They are NOTHING!

I want to pay tribute to great men, to my father, Peter Nelson, you are adored in my eyes, to the man who married me, Kay, I love you with all my heart, you complete me, to great men I have met on my blogging journey, they are many and I hold you all in the highest esteem! To my girlfriends and sisters, (don’t be jealous, I love you, you know that!)

 God bless you all!!

Love always! 🙂 🙂

You Came Naked…

benedeki

The plane descended very fast, the hairs at the nape of Daniel’s head stood on end, ‘is this the end?’ he thought desperately, But there was nothing he or the captain of the plane could do as the pilot and co pilot battled with the controls. The voice of the air hostess was high-pitched as she tried to calm the fearful passengers.

In the midst of the chaos. One man sat unperturbed, trying to drink from the can of coke in his hands though the contents spilled all over him. Daniel noticed the strange man, and as the man munched away, eating as if he was in a picnic, Daniel screamed,

‘Hey mister, aren’t you afraid?’

‘Afraid of what?’ the man asked, a smile on his face.

‘We are all going to die!’ Daniel would have loved to punch the smirk off the man’s face but he was risking his life for even talking.

‘Yes, I know,’ the man said with a cheeky grin, ‘You came naked and death smiles at us all, the only thing you can do is to smile back, besides, the pilot is my friend, he’s going to land this plane safely if it’s the last thing he does.’

And then there was a loud bang…

Twenty hours later, Daniel woke up in a hospital, he looked round and heave a deep sigh of relief, he was alive, that was the only thing that mattered to him. The door of the room opened and the same man he spoke to on the plane entered, his grin was still in place.

‘I told you my friend would land the plane, and nobody died!’

The man left and Daniel closed his eyes as the man’s words rang shrilly in his mind, ‘You came naked…’

Life is not so short as I used to say, we live in a timeless universe, everything around us pulsates with power. Look at Shakespeare, he’s still alive today, through his works. When we are no more, believe me, we’ll still be living, in the minds of others. Therefore, Let us live well!

The short story above is just a figment of my imagination and not an excerpt from ‘Tales Of Five Lies.’

I was playing around with Photoshop yesterday and  changed the cover of ‘Tales Of Five Lies,’ What do you think?

I’m working offline a lot now, organising and promoting ‘The Feet Of Darkness’ and sales have been great! :). It’s nice writing a short story again and I’ll go back to reading more blogs! Wherever in the world you are, enjoy the rest of your day!

Much love. 🙂

A True Heart…

Gavin Terpisra, Sydney!

Our hearts is like magnet, a wise man once said that what we want we attract, and what we hate we dispel and I think he’s right. Have you ever wondered why events that happened to you years ago suddenly springs to the fore accompanied by lofty feelings of elation or suppressed emotions of despair?

It’s because everything we are, our dynamic make up, the very essence of our being is wrapped within that magic word, ‘Heart.’ No wonder, this words of scripture sums it up perfectly, ‘guide your heart with all diligence for out of it are the issues of life.’

Great inventions, lofty ideas, beautiful visions, breakthroughs in science, medicine, all kinds of technological advancement or feats and every endearing development we see today was initially conceived from the heart as a thought process before it became a reality.

Murderers, Paedophiles, Liars, Suicide bombers and even that cancerous evil called divorce all stem from the heart. Great hearts shape the world, evil hearts kill our beautiful earth slowly…

Everything I am today and will ever be comes from my heart!

What about you?

I am promoting the second edition of ‘The Feet Of Darkness,’ so I’ll always tuck the links somewhere in my posts. Thank you for reading and love always!

I See You…

love this...

‘I am as constant as the northern star,’ my husband drawl with a twinkle in his eyes, his dark face breaking into an infectious grin. He held me close and planted a quick kiss on my lips, he’d warned me else I would have used his picture. He is a shy man and very kind. I don’t need anyone to tell me how lucky I am to be with him and see him but I don’t want to talk about my husband rather, I want to talk about you, yes, my readers my friends.

You see guys, I’ve got an imagination as wide as the sea and while I was planning on what to do in the office today (after writing a great article for my editor), a wonderful thought just whipped through my wind, what if I could see all of you at once, in one space,  time space. I know it’s impossible, we’re all flung in different parts of the globe but what exactly is our connecting reason, what is our fuse, what binds us together?

I am not going to answer that question because it’s obvious anyway, I’m just going to describe what I imagined everyone is doing now. It’s 3 o’clock in the afternoon and Alastair is punching away on his laptop, his daughter strolled in and gave him his camera.

‘Thanks babe,’ he said, thinking of his next photo shoot.

Christy, (she’s a poet) rushed through the door, it was almost past three, her babies would be waiting anxiously in the class and she hated to be the last mother at her daughter’s class. Rosy, stopped to wipe beads of sweat off her forehead, her thought on her next trip, she couldn’t wait for the visit to Venice with Gary, her millionaire boyfriend. Clanmother strolled towards her favourite bookshop, she’d seen a copy of ‘The Feet Of Darkness,’ (written by yours truly) and has determined to get it. Danny Breslin is on his next adventure to Kathmandu. Seanbidd scratched his head, trying to conjure his next piece of magic prose. Uzoma laughed heartily when he landed a new book contract with Random House.

And, I am in the office, typing this, I’ll have to dash out at quarter to three, pick my son from nursery, dash to his brother’s school, branched at his sister’s and head home. The rest of the day would be a blur of chores and work at the home office.

In all, it has been a great day so far and I wish you peace, whatever your circumstances. I am going to write more on my other friends, it’s quiet a long list, running into thousands!

Love you all!

Legacy Of Honour

shutterstock_82919143 (2)

The hot African sun shone in all its ferocious splendour, casting a glow on the darkened skin of the woman hoeing and pulling weeds in the corn farm, she stood briefly to stretch her back as her bones screech in protest.

In faraway India, the tired feminine figure trudged on, pulling the heavy load of rice and in New York, Annabel typed furiously in her cubicle, her manager casting surreptitious glances in her direction. However, her mind was on Michael, her two month old son, whom she dropped in her mother’s house on her way to work. She returned early from maternity leave after her husband’s redundancy, her salary was all they lived on.

In Nigeria, Victoria raced home, her brown face squeezed together like a wrinkled orange. Friends brought her seventeen year old daughter from university, plagued with a mysterious illness. Victoria’s eyes redden with tears, her heart beating like a banjo drum, though she has nine children, the thought of losing one was simply unbearable.

Two weeks later, her daughter was strong enough and she went back to campus but the next morning, Victoria stood in front of her daughter’s hostel, hoping to catch a glimpse of her. When the daughter saw Victoria, she flew into her arms.

”Mummy, why are you here?’

”I wanted to be sure you’re alright!’ Victoria said and joy surged in her heart when she saw her daughter’s healthy countenance.

The daughter smiled and bade her mother farewell. Victoria left the campus and went back to work.

Victoria is my mother and here I am today, well and strong, my mother always feared for my life, I can’t blame her. I was very sickly while growing up. To all great mothers, women, girls everywhere, I salute you in honour. Let us all leave a legacy worth mentioning to generations yet unborn.

Thanks for reading, and to our men folks, you complete us!

Much love, always!

Home

1254534_30817637

Home is a place of refuge, refuge from the storms of life.

A home is not a house.

I walked pass an overhead bridge and saw tattered luggage scattered everywhere.

My heart lurched in sorrow, and I wondered what makes someone

Lose a home.

I saw a man’s face, peering out of the darkness, the man’s face scared me but I was curious all the same.

I walked home, sad because I know by morning, he would be gone.

Killers and murderers even found refuge in the

comfort of a home.

Oscar Pistorius is one.

If you have a home,

Thank God, if not,

You can find

A home if you

don’t lose

Heart.

Can Love Overcome Darkness?

paperbackfront original

I’m pleased to finally introduce the cover of the second edition of the ‘The Feet Of Darkness’ to you my friends! The e-book is now live, if you click on this link   http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BJ6LJHC  it would take you directly to the Amazon.com website, the paperback would follow suit in March.

The blurb is something like this;

Imagine a world where the unseen rules and the seen are helplessly rooted in darkness.

A world where darkness reigns with gay impunity while evil spread its tentacles unabashed.

A world where darkness threatens all as powers beyond the comprehension of man threatens to eliminate all we know and holds dear.

In such a world, the only game left for all is survival, except…maybe…there are some chosen people somewhere, hiding beyond the darkness that can fight and liberate all…

Jezreel, a mighty angel saddled with the responsibility of preventing the impending doom chose three people to help salvage the destiny of humanity.

Michael, a gullible British scientist, Sharon, a quirky floundering young woman whose entire life is shroud in mystery and a sword-wielding believer, David, whose faith must endure the test of adversity. Would they succeed? Can love overcome darkness and eliminate the spirit of the power of the air?

Can love work its magic on a vengeful soul intent on revenge?

Can love conquer all?”

The novel is filled with twists and turns… I’m not going to review it but I’m glad it’s finally out of my hands, the cover was designed by my publisher, Arrow Gate Publishing. Editing and rewriting this novel was a great but exhausting experience, coupled with the fact that I’m totally in charge of a new company which demanded two hundred percent of my time!

I also have another company of three children (very demanding role) who needed their mama so I don’t really have the foggiest clue how I’ve been able and still able to pull things off! But I thank God for great family and friends who’ve supported me all the way!

I want to ask you my friends to help more, give a shout out about the release, the next few days and weeks would be hectic and fun-filled. There are lots of promotional buzz going on, my publisher, Arrow Gate have been wonderful.  I would update as things unfold!

My humble self was recently featured in a magazine interview by BBR production! It was an awesome experience and I’m profoundly grateful to Thomas J Belliza, check it out friends!

The Sweeper!

shutterstock_93056218

The grotesque sweeper ploughed down the street, I stopped on my tracks to be sure it was real before I fled to my room. I heard my mom arguing on the phone, she’s uptight today, I told my dad she worked too hard but nobody cared to listen.

But my problems were far from over, the looming sound seemed to burst through my ear drums as the sweeper made its way down the front of our house, when my parents made no attempt to calm my frayed nerves, I ran down the stairs and hid in the cloak room, though it was dark, I felt safe, then I heard my mom calling my name and I began to cry.

She hurried downstairs and brought me out of my darkness, her pretty face a beehive of worry. She loved me, I know but sometimes, I get the feeling, they don’t believe me when I tell everyone who cared to listen that I hate the sound of ‘The Sweeper.’

”It’s all right baby Lou,” she said and straddled me into her arms but there was no stopping my wailing, I hated when she calls me ‘baby Lou’ and I hated the sweeper. My dad came to meet us downstairs and I went straight to him. He cuddled me and called me ‘tiger,’ I kind of prefered tiger to ‘baby Lou.’ I love the sound of trains trudging down the tracks, I love the booming sound of aeroplanes but not the sweeper!

Ten minutes later, I felt better and slowly made my way to the living room, ‘Mickymouse’ was singing on the TV, life is good, my only fear in life is the sweeper! My name is Emmanuel David and I am twenty-five months old!

*******************

I just had to post this, my son hates the sound of the street sweeper and it beats me! I reckon trains and aeroplanes are scarier than the dingy engine sound of the street sweeper!

This is a classic example of what we fear, as adults, we are more afraid of the mundane things in everyday life, the snide comments of haters, or what people think… maybe, the house we live in or our jobs, our relationships with others might cause a great amount of scrutiny but I say, forget such people exist! There would always be haters, live your life as if you’re in paradise.

Just like the lady in the above picture, laugh your problems away! Life is good if we allow it to be so, it’s our reactions to problems that matter most, not the problems!!

Thanks friends for reading my post!

Love, always!! 🙂

Love’s Glorious Reign!

shutterstock_34411321

‘Love is slow to suspect but quick to trust.

Slow to condemn but quick to justify; slow to offend but quick to defend.

Slow to expose but quick to shield; slow to reprimand but quick to emphasise;

Slow to belittle but quick to appreciate; slow to provoke but quick to help.

Slow to demand but quick to give; slow to revenge but quick to help.

*************

I hope everyone had a glorious Valentine celebration yesterday! I sure did, I couldn’t even lift the lid of my laptop, I was that busy. My office had an avalanche of calls, I was inundated with unforseen circumstances which demanded my utmost attention! It was around midnight when I finally saw the tip of my nose. I’d prepared a fantastic post, which unfortunately now seemed belated. But like I used to say, love should be celebrated daily not once a year, though it’s commendable to us as humans that we actually set a day aside to celebrate love. I read the above poem on ‘Word For Today’ and I’m sure it aptly described what love truly embodies.

I wish everyone love, peace and blessings, not just on Valentine’s day. May love continually reign in our lives!

”He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose”

Jim Elliot.

I was looking for my dictionary and decided to check my library which was overflowing with books, journals, novels and whatnot when I saw one of my old diaries. I picked it up and a rumpled piece of paper slipped out. I looked at it and saw this quote which I wrote in 2008 (I always date my entries) I stopped on my tracks as my mind went into overdrive, what do we give that we cannot keep?

I have a picture of what I cannot keep that I’ll give away but I’m not sure if it applied to everyone. This quote stayed on my mind all day and I decided to post it and ask your opinions What do you think friends?

I value your friendships, always!
