Decisions and the Ripple Effects

When someone makes a decision, he is really diving into a strong current that will carry him to places he had never dreamed of when he first made the decision.

I want to touch briefly on decisions but before I do that, it’s December folks! Yay! I can’t believe it’s already December ( honestly, I’m grateful 2020 is rolling away!)

We’ve all been living in the backdrop of the pandemic, and while many lives have changed dramatically, we’ve all been affected by the events of this year, one way or another. It’s been sobering, sad, inspirational, boring, and the list go on. The human cost has been huge, my prayers go to anyone that has been affected by the faceless virus.

On the bright side, we now have a vaccine! (different vaccines, by the way). But like everything in life, many people are pro-vaccine, some are not. (I will be taking the vaccine when it’s available). On my side, I have been very busy as usual but I am determined to update my website as often as possible, starting now.

Something happened to me recently, it’s just a mundane thing but it got me thinking. It’s true that we may not be able to determine our race, family, or the colour of our eyes, however, there are some decisions we make that will ultimately change the trajectory of our lives.

A couple of weeks ago, I was on my way to a very important meeting. Before I left home, I decided to check the backdoor again, there was nothing bad in being extra careful but that last-minute decision ultimately changed my day. I was still able to go for my meeting but I was very late, and I hate giving a bad impression but there you go. Some decisions have deeper consequences and could be life-changing, and that is the reason we need to tread carefully and weigh our options before committing to a project or an idea.

We should weigh our decisions carefully. Life has no rewind timer. Our decisions shows the type of person we are and the content of our character. The late Adolf Hitler had friends and followers and they murdered millions of people, and he started by convincing people to follow him.

They made the call. They made the decision. Aptly put, think before you act. Your life may depend on it.

Does anyone have any decisions they made that changed their lives? I would like to know in the comments below.

I hope everyone will continue to stay safe.

Much love to you! Always!! ūüôā ūüôā

The Happy Isles

It may be that the gulfs will wash us down:

It may be we shall touch the Happy Isles,

And though We are not now that strength which in old days

Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;

One equal temper of heroic hearts,

Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will

To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

Ulysses by Alfred, Lord Tennyson

‘Thinking about that poem a lot lately and I think what it says is that while it’s tempting to play it safe, the more we’re willing to risk, the more alive we are. At the end what we regret most are chances we never took.’

Dr Frasier Crane.

Trying to sum up this year has left me floundering for the perfect words to write, but then, Ulysses by Alfred, Lord Tennyson came to mind.¬†I realised that the reason we’re sometimes miserable in life is neglecting the things that are dear to our hearts.

‘It’s easier said than done, a dear friend once quipped wryly, fate is a cruel lover.’ I disagreed with her. Most times, we leave our lives in the hands of fate when we can dictate how we want things to turn. Don’t get me wrong, there are many things we can’t control, yet in the same vein, there are things within OUR control.

The end of a year signals something final and irreversible. Likewise, it also foretold adventures not yet taken, dreams not yet realised and battles not yet fought¬†nor won. ¬†It could however, prove an unsettling¬†experience if we believe our lives aren’t what we want it to be by doing nothing to make it what¬†it ought¬†to be.

There’s a way out though,¬†why not envision what you want¬†and take ample steps towards it? By doing so, you would be able to satisfy¬†your innermost desires knowing that you tried and succeeded¬†or maybe not but at least, you took¬†action.

The new year is almost here, and I want to use this opportunity to appreciate my friends all over the world, for their continued support and friendship. I hope 2016 would be a better year and that peace and love would be a visible part of our lives in the new year!

I¬†hope we would touch our ‘Happy Isles’ in 2016,¬†we just need to believe so.

Much love friends, and happy New Year!

Destiny Or Coincidence?

¬†So many people have¬†said or written¬†a lot on destiny, it’s an inexhaustible topic. I’m not going to perambulate or go around in circles, I believe we make our own destinies by the choices we made. Coincidence on the other hand¬†is mere luck, it’s something trivial in my book.¬†From time immemorial, I knew I wanted to be a writer but that’s not where it ended. Of¬†late, I’ve been involved in some projects that I never believed in my wildest imagination that I was¬†going to¬†do but it happened nonetheless, which keeps me wondering about¬†destiny, fate, and coincidence.

But today, I’m glad I have awesome friends like you, which brings me to this C.S Lewis quote that¬†I saw recently,

”In your life you meet people.

Some you never think about again.

Some, you wonder what happened to them.

There are some that you wonder if they ever think about you.

And then there are some that you wish you never have to think about again.

But you do.”

Those words aptly encapsulates the people we’ve come across in life. At present, I often wonder about friends I met on this¬†blogosphere who simply disappeared off the radar, some have stopped blogging, some can’t be bothered anymore and some are even better than friends I had known for years. And I don’t think our friendship is coincidental! I know some of you reading this might have wondered about the same thing¬†but I truly believe that friendships makes life bearable! And saying that, I have a writer friend, Tracy Shawn and¬†I would love to promote her upcoming book, ‘The Grace Of Crows” shown here;

Photo: Sneak peek of the cover for our October release of Tracy Shawn's novel THE GRACE OF CROWS.

The novel would be released by Cherokee McGhee Publishing in October, please check It out, and I’ll always tuck in a reminder in my posts before and after the release. Thanks guys! ūüôā

On that note, I’ll say, I’m happy you’re my friends and I wish you all¬†a lovely and peaceful¬†week!

Much love, always!

A Straw In The Wind

Straw

Straw (Photo credit: GlacierTim)

The wind kept blowing, taking me to places I never wanted to be

I felt myself been lifted high above the clouds and I sigh!

I saw a girl with brown hair, laughing

I fell back into the grass

There was no sound

Her laughter echoes and the force of it threw me off course and I drifted off

She giggles and I envied her beauty and innocence.

No wonder, I am envious, I am only a straw

Nobody cares for a straw

Lifeless straw!

Humans stepped on me but I can feel and sniffs tales from afar

Christmas is near, the end of the age is not far, some says

I have no qualms, after all

I am only a straw in the wind

with no cares in the world

Why do humans worry for what they cannot change!

Why stress over destiny?

Why fret over imaginations?

Why do they live in the past?

Afraid to move on!

I have no idea

Besides, I am only a straw

with no cares in the world

Wheeee, the wind is back

And as it took me off

I saw the girl with the brown hair again

And I wonder

What fate awaits her!

This is one of my poetic thoughts,¬†I hope you’ll enjoy reading¬†my life as a straw!

Happy Holidays Everyone! It’s Xmas soon¬†isn’t it?
