Love, Aging, And Everything In Between

We are special species. The human race is resilient in the face of adversity,  we come up with interesting concepts about love, aging, and survival. I love the way Jamais Cascio puts it, ”resilience is all about being able to overcome the unexpected. Sustainability is about survival. The goal of resilience is to thrive.”

I couldn’t agree more. We can thrive when all hopes seem lost, the secret to an ageless, carefree life is contentment with who you are. People with disembodied image of themselves tend to continually conflicts with life.

                                                                       (Lines of wisdom)

When everything seems to go pear-shaped, humanity always has a way of making things better. Yes, sometimes, we fail dismally, however, that has never stopped humanity. I believe in humanity, I believe in love and I am a forever optimist that things can always get better.

(I love The Hope In Her Eyes)

Valentine shouldn’t be about love only, I reckon it should also be about hope, faith, and perseverance.

Hope for the parents of a six-year-old girl afflicted with cancer that she would get better with the right treatment, faith that a job seeker would get a befitting job and his life wouldn’t be a constant struggle, and perseverance in the face of overwhelming defeat. Never giving up because there would be a time, when a breakthrough actually looms beside defeat.

I believe in humanity, do you?

I’ll leave you guys with this simple quote by Kushandwizdom, ”faith makes all things possible, hope makes all things work and love makes all things beautiful.”

I hope your lives would be filled with faith, hope, and love.

Have a wonderful Valentine. 🙂

Much love always!

Admire your faith Seyl. I do! Though I don’t share your view ☺ More than humanity I trust the animals, wild ones…

    Beautiful post, Sandra.

  8. Beautiful, Seyi. Happy Valentine’s Day to you too.

  9. Al says:

I’ve been thinking lately of a film I watched many, many years ago called Zorro, the Gay Blade. It was a real sendup of all the Zorro films. One line in it, where Zorro the Gay Blade was trying to comfort his brother, Zorro the straight Blade about a woman, and the Gay Blade said “Just think, in another fifty years, she’ll just be another toothless old hag”

And it always made me laugh because we look at beauty now, but when we look at older people, how often do we look back? The queen was a true stunner in her early years. Drop dead gorgeous. As we age, we give up our looks for wisdom. Unless, like me you never have any to start with, then there is no hope for the human race lol. Joking aside though, as we age, we start to have a better understanding of the world and that understanding comes at a cost. The real beauty sinks further into us, and leaves behind an exterior that has learned.

It is that ageing, that beauty sinking in, that will make humanity move forward. That is the hope for our species. There is hope even when there are people like :insert current hated politician here: around. There are people willing to make a difference because of what they have learned.

People like you make a difference because you share beauty in all your thoughts.

    Have a wonderful weekend Seyi.

You’re right Al, most people are scared of aging, and they delay it for as long as thy could. That’s vanity, we all know that. However, there’s nothing wrong in looking good, I take good care of myself but there are some kinds of beauty that transcends physical features – like the beauty of the soul, compassion, kindness, faith, love and hope. These are necessary attributes needed to make our world a better place to live in, thrive, and grow.

Such beauty would save humanity from complete annihilation. I’ve watched Zorro, and I think I remember the scene you’ve described. We would all age, I pray that for all of us, many who don’t, die young.

Your words resonated with me about learning and thinking on how to move the world to a better place than where we are now.

Thank you for your kind comment, it’s so refreshing to see you here, I really appreciate it. I read on FB that you’re going to watch a film, I hope you liked it. Do take care of yourself and your wonderful family. Enjoy the rest of your weekend old friend!
      Blessings. 🙂

Your closing wish to your readers reminds me of 1 Corinthians 13:13.
    Happy Valentines to you, too!

  11. ledrakenoir says:

    Excellent written, my friend… 🙂

Valentine, Christmas and similar days shouldn’t be the only time of year where we humans care about others – we should do all year round… 🙂

    • Seyi sandra says:

Thanks Drake, I concur to your statement, we shouldn’t show love only on Valentine and Christmas, it should be an everyday affair.
I’m so glad you stopped by, thank you!
      Blessings to you. 🙂

  12. Ste J says:

Your version of Valentine’s is a much better one than the one we have at the moment, if I see one more drawing of a heart, I think I will have to go live on a mountain for a bit. I wish you a wonderful Valentine’s and hope that all your dreams come true my friend.

    • Seyi sandra says:

Thank you Ste J. The problem with society is we’ve commercialised everything. Take reality shows for instance, people’s lives have been serialised into mindless episodes and we’re been spoon fed unnecessary adverts daily, all in a bid to take money from us.
I appreciate your visit and comment my friend, hope your weekend would be peaceful.

      • Ste J says:

Remember when only Ford and Vauxhall adverts had theme tunes and now every car advert needs signature music. I avoid adverts, on the few occasions I watch TV by muting and reading a book. If these people want money off of us, they should pay their taxes and then the economy would be in a better state so we afford their products!

It seems a strange thing to sit and watch people doing things in their lives when those same viewers could be out there doing things as well.

      • Seyi sandra says:

Very strange world indeed. Sometimes, I wished there are 30 hours in a day but I reckon I’ll just have to make do with what I have.
I watched ‘War And Peace’ on BBC recently and loved it, what I did was record it, then when I’m watching I skip the adverts.
Yeah, about those taxes, I can’t believe the govt had to haggle with Google to pay £130million for corporation tax while the man in charge in the UK got over that same amount in a year! And to make matters worse, small businesses like us are forced to cough out profits we didn’t make. It’s really unfair I must say.
        Enough said I think. 🙂
Do have a great week ahead.

      • Ste J says:

I didn’t get around to watching War and Peace, at least it didn’t have those barmy author lectures that the book had though!

The tax system is against the people who are taxed on everything, us! The people that let Google and such get away with it, or don’t close loopholes and make financial gain and are corrupt, it should be jail time or asset seizure for them. Sorry it just makes me mad!

Anyway enough moaning, take care my friend and keep smiling!

  13. Seyi, your evaluation was spot on. Humanity has a kind of regenerative power to redress mistakes, however, there are some who would always oppose living in relative peace. A very unusual post I must say, but very insightful too. I love the pictures used to buttress your points.
I wish you all the best this weekend.
    Best wishes,
    John

    • Seyi sandra says:

Thanks John. I hope humanity’s regenerative power would be put to good use by men and women in power. I appreciate your visit and comment, thank you so much.
I hope you’ll enjoy the rest of your weekend too.
      Blessings. 🙂

  14. reocochran says:

Seyi, I see so much in people beyond their “surface” some good and some bad. I prefer to seek the beauty inside everyone and Hope for the best! 🙂 Happy ♡ day, friend.

    • Seyi sandra says:

That’s a good perspective Robin, the beauty inside is of more value than the one outside. Hope your weekend is going swimmingly well.
      Take care my friend.
      Much love to you. 🙂

  15. Happy Vaentines🌹 I like this post!

  17. Pretty amazing and well put.

  18. I agree with your view on Valentin’s day not being about love only.
The bible also says so faith, hope and love BUT the greatest of them all is LOVE…..1st corinthians 3 vs 16. This was my quote on the V.day post today and I have being pondering on it. I do have clarity on that verse now.
It is love that brings about all of the other things above.
Thank you for sharing this. As always, it is a good read and liked it.

You’re right Mojisola, love is the greatest of them all, if we could all have love, there would be no more hatred, no more wars or jealousy, how glorious our world would be!
I appreciate your visit and comment dear friend. Do have a wonderful weekend.
      Blessings. 🙂
