‘The step between prudence and paranoia
is short and deep.
Paranoia avoids cars altogether.
Prudence washes with soap;
Paranoia avoids human contact altogether.
Prudence saves for old age;
Paranoia clings to every penny!
Prudence prepares and plans;
Paranoia panics.
Prudence calculates the risks and takes the plunge;
paranoia never enters the water.’

I read this today and it had a profound effect on me. I have been extremely busy at work, and coupled with my upcoming book, it was like walking in a sea of unending deadlines. But then I paused and allowed these words sink into my spirit, mulling it over, I realised that as humans, we’re certainly creatures of comfort, and taking the plunge could be easier said than done.
What do I mean by plunges? They’re simply changes, making new decisions and following them through. Having faith in God and yourself (if you believe in God) and stepping out to make the needed changes to your life. To reach a glorious destiny, you have to stop holding back. Some have changed their lives by going to college and following their dreams, others signed up for reality shows, and some, just improving their skills by attending night school.
But you must first take the plunge!
I need to apologise for my silence, I have been inundated with work and had certainly missed a lot of posts. Please bear with me, and I’ll catch up soon. I’ll be travelling out of London this weekend but would be back next week, before then, I’ll still visit your wonderful websites!
Have a fantastic month! October had always been my best month (I was born in October! 😉 ) and as the weekend inch closer, just have fun and enjoy life!
Much love, always!
🙂
Safe travels and Happy birthday !!! What a lovely month to have a birthday !!!
Thanks dear friend, October is a lovely month indeed! Thanks for your visit, I appreciate it!!
Blessings. 🙂
Great words and very deep! People are generally afraid of taking a plunge, not because of fear but simply because of the uncertainty and unpredictability of life. Have a safe trip! Great Post!!
Christy Nelson. 🙂
Thanks Christy, you have a way with words, thanks for stopping by amidst your tight schedules!
Much love. 🙂
My pleasure!!
🙂
I have watched you bloom like a rose in inclement weather here for several years. Poignant writing, no doubt! Most people in America have a working vocabulary of 300-900 words consisting of “you know” and ” and I was like…excuse me.” Words are like fruit. Each polysyllabic one conveys far more than it’s lowest, most commonly used monosyllabic synonym. Congratulations on not being run of the mill. Strive for uniqueness. Always try to be the one others point to and say “Jez, I have to get a dictionary out to decipher her. She’s sooo much different from her peers”. My son chided me when I wrote my book and said no one would understand half my vocabulary. It was one of the hardest things I ever did to dumb it down but I realized the audience I was aiming for was word-challenged. I’ll never make that compromise again. Let them buy dictionaries and eat cake.
Thanks so much for that wonderful comment, you’ve really made the rest of my day a merry one! Don’t make that compromise again, one thing I’d realised in life is that we all have our corners and audiences! I don’t mind buying a dictionary to read your books!
I sincerely appreciate your visit!!
Much love. 🙂
I have to agree with you on this observation, my husband call it “the cliche style”
everyone leans towards mediocrity as far as words and their depths are concerned in writing, and you are correct; not a common feature in this site 🙂 ….Seyi does take it to the next level!
Thanks for agreeing with asknod!
🙂
Enjoy your trip away.
Thanks Ben.
October is a good month yes, not my best, August is; for obvious reasons ,lol. I like October because my favorite people are all October babies like you Seyi. Happy birthday for when it comes and thanks for your kind wishes earlier.
This is a wonderful reminder of how we all need the chill pill…I seem to be getting this from fellow bloggers a lot lately.
Now as one who does not believe in coincidences, I definitely know something is about to unfold in my personal world 🙂
Do have a wonderful trip and come back soon, I’ll be back to say welcome home.
I understand Dotta, and thanks for your kind wishes! I do hope you’ll get a great surprise, because expectation fuels our creative energy. I appreciate your friendship and kindness! My love to your family.
Blessings. 🙂
The best moments are the ones where we’ve plunged…and plunged again. Here’s to not holding back. Thx for this, especially today “I am from…” was a plunge for me.
Oh Willowmarie, I’m glad you like my post! And I quiet agree with you! Do enjoy the rest of your week!

Moments when we decide to “plunge” define our lives. Being courageous and trusting in God (for those who believe) is the key to an assured, fruitful future. So October is your month? Happy birthday in advance. For your travel out of London, I wish you a safe trip and may you return safely.
Thanks dear brother! And I second your opinion totally. Yes! I’m an October baby 🙂 I really appreciate your kind wishes, do enjoy the rest of your night!
Much love. 🙂
There was so much truth what you said.
I’m glad you agreed! Thanks for your visit!

Great image to go with your posting, So true that we must all stay true to ourselves, and plunge at the right moment, best way to catch a fish is to plunge when it is there to catch. In all our lives we take flight and hope to soar, let us all remember that millions of people were born when we also were born, and they will travel life at the same time, and at the same pace, and will like the same things and know the same history as we do,So there will always be others to be our wings, as we are theirs, Trust in your time, and trust in your endeavors and plunge.
Very nice posting!
Happy Birthday and wish you and yours a wonderful weekend… 🙂
I hope your birthday this month is all you could hope for, Seyi sandra. This was good for me to read. I was taught paranoia from a young age, and all I really want is a little prudence and a few plunges where they can reap the most.
Hi Seyi…
Thank you for your continued following on my blog. I’ve been remiss, and wanted to let you know I appreciate it. You have a beautiful site, and evidently a very loving and faithful audience yourself. 🙂
Let me know when your book is coming out. I’ll see if I can’t trumpet the news about just a little for you…

Thanks very much Thomas, that would be great! I appreciate your kindness!! I’ll let you know when the book is out!!
Much love. 🙂
Tell me a bit about your book, and when do you expect to launch?
It’s called Cydonia, Rise of the fallen’ and would be released on 16th of December 2013 by Arrow Gate Publishing(it would launch on that day as well) It’s a supernatural thriller, the story is apocalyptic in nature, fast moving, strong dialogue with mystery thrown in for good measure. Fans of Dan Brown would like it. If you don’t mind, I could ask my publisher to send you the ARC (Advance Review Copy) when it’s ready.
I sincerely appreciate your interest! Thank you!! 🙂
Much love.
I’d love to read it! Send it over, and i’ll be happy to review it. If you like, after it launches, we could do an interview on my blog. I’ve interviewed quite a number of my pals…:)
I would love that very much Thomas! Thank you so much!
Blessings. 🙂
Some times the plunge can be icy cold, but you are right, once we have the courage to do something then for the most part good things happen and then blog posts are born…
Love the poem Seyi! Great post. Very insightful. Have a great trip! 😀
Happy birthday……I’m so glad you have also been born again. Born once….die twice. Born twice…die once.
Thanks Ike, I am, have been a born again Christian for almost twenty three years and I’m very grateful for my salvation. Most of my novels has Christian themes! Thanks for your visit and continual support!!
Blessings. 🙂
You are an inspiration! Have fun on your trip… Happy Birthday!
Lovely words with a extreme amount to say.
Happy Birthday to you. May you have many, many more.
Isadora
Thank you Isadora, what a lovely name!! I appreciate your visit!
Blessings. 🙂
Thank you .. I like my name now but as a child it was a little to big and kids made fun of it. As an artist and former creator of handmade jewelry, it fit in so well. I suppose the name was just meant for me.
Have a great weekend ….
I’m taking the plunge and leaving a comment: Your posts are always worth waiting for! Also: Happy October Birthday, whenever it is!!
Oops– I guess that was two comments… : )
Thanks Mark, my birthday is tomorrow! I appreciate your visit, always!!! You can leave twenty comments, it always gladden my heart. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!!

I needed to read the words in this post today. I’m on the verge of a major change in my life. The thought used to fill me with so much excitement but as the days get closer, I am wrestling more with anxious thoughts. Thank you for the reminder in these words. They were much needed. Hope you had a great trip. I love traveling.
I did Makeda, and I’m glad my post lifted you up! Change could be scary but we need to just let go sometimes and take the plunge!
