Waiting…

‘Infuse your life with action. Don’t wait for it to happen. Make it happen. Make your own future. Make your own hope. Make your own love. And whatever your beliefs, honor your creator, not by passively waiting for grace to come down from upon high, but by doing what you can to make grace happen… yourself, right now, right down here on Earth.’ Bradley Whitford

‘PatienceΒ  is the least of my virtues,’ someone said in a film I watched years ago and I agreed. Patience, and waiting, walk hand in hand. We wait for great things to happen, we wait for bad things to go away, we wait for a lot of stuff while we should and could be doing something about it. I hate waiting, although sometimes, it’s a necessary part of life, waiting for exams, waiting to get a job, waiting to get married, waiting to give birth, waiting to succeed, waiting for this, waiting for that!

Why not just take Bradley’s advice and infuse your life with action.

Maybe, it’s time to really just move…

Or what do you think?

Enjoy the rest of this week my friends!!

Much love, always!

  1. Paul J. Stam says:

Waiting is often an excuse. Some 60 years ago when I was in my early 20s and old man said to me, β€œSon, to many people wait for something to happen. And they always have an excuse of why they can’t do something. If you come to a wall, look for a way over it. If there’s no way over it, look for the way around it. If there is no way around, start tearing it down.” Sounded good to me then, and sill sounds good to me. – Blessings and Aloha – pjs.

That’s powerful Paul, with your permission, I’ll use this quote in one of my post. I don’t like waiting, I’m always on the move, except when I’m ill or tired. Then, I’ll rest and go on. Life would be completely boring if we keep waiting for things to change.

      I’m grateful for your visit!
      Blessings. πŸ™‚

  2. This is true. I don’t like waiting and I don’t like when people are late and make me wait.

  3. RoSy says:

    Waiting drives me nuts.
Good or bad – just get with it.
    Ok – maybe I can be a bit too impatient… πŸ˜‰

    {Hugs}

“Infuse your life with action”. That’s awesome, Seyi! Thank you for that. I would say that’s the best way of waiting. Thanks for sharing this lovely post, blessings and love to you, xoxo

    Very well written… πŸ™‚

Such a thing like happiness or simple luck – if we look for it, so it comes easilier than if we just sit and wait – the lucky guys are often those who looks for it… πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

  6. I agree completely – though sometimes I need patience because life moves slower than I would like it to!

    • Seyi sandra says:

Exactly, and that’s the part I don’t like but like I said, there are some things we can’t just control. Thanks for stopping by, hope you’re enjoying Cydonia! πŸ™‚

      • I am – WAY behind on finishing it as my family and I continue to try and settle back in to British life (plus four books of my own I’m trying to finish writing!) but I AM reading and enjoying and will be writing up on it soon. You still need to put a piece on my blog about it too (hint hint πŸ˜‰ )

      • Seyi sandra says:

Wow Ken, four books? How are you doing it? πŸ™‚ You’re certainly a genius! I can’t juggle that many books at once, the characters would certainly overlap. πŸ™‚
I quiet understand, I was just curious and wondered what you make of it, not in any way hurrying you up.

I hope you’re settling in well. It’s been raining non stop for weeks now… I hope you’ve acclimatised to our wonderful but unpredictable British weather.
My warm regards to your lovely family!
        Blessings. πŸ™‚

      • Thanks Seyi – the four books are all completely different. Only one is a novel in actual fact and it is the final drafting I’m completing. The other three are non-fiction so no need to worry about character overlap!

        Thanks for your good wishes!

  7. True words Seyi. Sometimes we shouldn’t just stand around doing nothing, we should and ought to make things happen. There are certain situations in life where we can’t really do much but wait. However, there are other times when we simply need to move! Great post!

  8. I loved this post, it really spoke to me. I have been having this type of talk with myself lately. I need to take more action but I find sometimes I just do not know what to do ? I agree many of us spend too much time waiting and need to do more. I will work harder on finding actions to take !! Thanks for such a great reminder of how much time we can waste in our wonderful lives, waiting for things to happen instead of making them happen !!

    • Seyi sandra says:

I’m glad you like it dear friend. Mind you, we just don’t need to take any actions blindly – there is a learning process, a time to realise what we need to do per time and how to do it well. Then our miracle is just a stone throw away!

Enjoy the rest of your week dear!
      Much love. πŸ™‚

      • That could be why so many times we do not act, fear of not making a good move !! You are right, blind moves are as bad as no moves , sometimes worse. I will definately give some thought to your words !! You are very wise !!!
I promise I will enjoy each minute this week, and I hope you do the same !!!
        Xoxo

      • Seyi sandra says:

You’re right, not just any action but the right move would always, certainly culminate in success. I’m glad you have such a positive outlook to life – and I wish you the best week ever!
        Much love. πŸ™‚

  9. Noted in Nashville says:

This was exactly what I needed to hear this morning. Thank you!

  10. Great thoughts you pen here, my friend. Patience, it really is a virtue as they say!!

  11. Ste J says:

Yes indeed, doing stuff and changing up to do the things you want is the wisest course of action in life, it’s an important lesson to learn…Although I will skip on the pregnancy bit…

    • Seyi sandra says:

He he heee, guys don’t like to talk about pregnancy a lot, and I wonder why?

      • Ste J says:

Well being a sensitive male, I prefer to appear to listen whilst sticking to my clichΓ© male nervousness around the subject lol.

      • Seyi sandra says:

He he he, that means you can’t follow your (partner, wife or girlfriend to the labour room? πŸ™‚ πŸ˜‰

      • Ste J says:

I think I don’t have to worry about babies anytime soon so I am happy with that lol…I do hear it is a bit gruesome in a delivery room though.

      • Seyi sandra says:

Yak! It is, my husband was absolutely petrified the last time. I’m glad I’m over that bit, can’t wait for them to grow up. One of my girlfriends refused to have babies, she said the ‘crying and bloated look’ makes her mad. Take your time old friend… before the screaming starts! πŸ˜‰ Lol

      • Ste J says:

Haha, crying and bloated look. yes I am in no rush and will be happy just to pootle about and not start any life changing events lol.

      • Seyi sandra says:

Well you never know dude, you never know… πŸ˜‰

  12. Al says:

I have patience. But I tend to keep it locked away somewhere banging on the door trying to get out πŸ˜‰

    • Seyi sandra says:

Patience is not bad in itself, it’s the waiting bit that kills me. I’m not a very patient person… πŸ™‚

      • Al says:

The only time I am patient, is when I have a hospital appointment πŸ˜‰

Going to post the book off tomorrow πŸ˜€ It is one that I will be reading again.

      • Seyi sandra says:

You can’t do anything about that! πŸ™‚ I always go prepared or look for ways to skip the appointment!

I look forward to receiving the book and immensely glad that you would be reading it again!!
        πŸ™‚

      • Al says:

It was brilliant, and that ending was just perfect not what I expected πŸ™‚

      • Seyi sandra says:

I’m glad you like that. Come to think of it, could you please help me add your reviews on Waterstones and a few other site?

That’s a huge favour Al, Cydonia should be out on Kobo, iBook and Google books soon. Putting your thoughts out there would help. I’ve been having a lot of sales but the reviews haven’t be forthcoming as expected. I’ll appreciate it. I’ll let you know when it’s live on Kobo and other sites…

      • Al says:

        I will do πŸ™‚

I have done a complete review and added it to AMAZON UK and WATERSTONES as well as my blog. Will be doing it for AMAZON US and GOODREADS in a minute. The GR one will be on my sidebar for a while as well πŸ™‚

      • Seyi sandra says:

I can’t thank you enough Al, you’re just a STAR!! God bless you!
        Much love. πŸ™‚

      • Seyi sandra says:

        Cheers and goodnight ol’friend.
        πŸ™‚

      • Al says:

Good night Seyi. I have to try and find a book to top that one now

      • Seyi sandra says:

Oh you would find, great writers with awesome stories abound everywhere!
        πŸ™‚

      • Al says:

πŸ™‚ I have a load on my kindle that I haven’t read and told authors I would read them. I can’t remember who’s was whose though

  13. Don says:

I believe it’s both. There is a time to wait and a time to act. For me the quote by Whitford tends to be a little unbalanced.

    • Seyi sandra says:

You can look at it two ways, that was why I said there are things we can’t control – hence we got no choice than to wait and there are such times when waiting is akin to laziness and that was why I love Whitford’s quote. I appreciate your visit and comment.
      Blessings. πŸ™‚

  14. totsymae1011 says:

Inspiring words. A nice little pick me up and go get’em kinda post.

  15. Kerina says:

Found this very inspiring …. sometimes you just need to hear or in this case read what you already know. Thank you….

  16. Ben Naga says:

There are times to act, and times to refrain from action, I seem to recall coming across something like that somewhere. πŸ˜‰

  17. Ben Naga says:

Actually no. Lamenting is another kind of action though, I was trying to refer to that refraining from action transcends emotions such as lamentation. There may of course often.be several levels of meaning and interpretation in scriptural passages in a number of religions.

  18. Seyi sandra says:

Now what do you want me to explain, the lamentation bit, the complexity of life? Or the refraining kind of waiting? πŸ™‚
