The Journey

Roberto Cavalli’s eyes tried to adjust to the darkness, but it was difficult, the only sound which seemed to permeate the atmosphere was the clanging on the rail tracks. He tried to move his arms but it was as hopeless as trying to lift a mountain so he just gave up.

Soon, he heard a cough and tried to turn his head but a chuckle escaped him instead though it sounded like a plea for help. ”Why don’t you sleep Roberto, forget Isabella and the kids, God would take care of them,” a voice whispered shrilly in his head but he ignored it, there was no reason he’d give in to that tormenting spirit which made him jump in the first place.

”But, how I’m going to get out of here?” He asked out loud and was not expecting an answer, and then there was that cough again. What’s more, it was getting louder, so was the noise of the train, but he couldn’t move as a blinding light beamed on him.

Now, Roberto was sure he was no longer alone, the grating annoying sound on the gravel was unnerving. And ever so slowly, the head of a shrivelled old man appeared, his green eyes reminded Roberto of the eyes of his newborn son, Argento. The man peered down at him and cackled, his green eyes seemed to dance with delight.

”I don’t know how many people I’ll meet on the journey of my life, but I’m sure as hell proud to have known you! And you’re lucky I’m by your side today.”

”Who are you?” Roberto asked and winced in pain.

”I am Second Chance, SC for short, you lost your job and your house was repossessed, so you thought you’d end it all by jumping in front of a fast-moving train.”

Roberto watched through the corner of his eyes at another approaching train which was inching closer at each passing second.

”I did no such thing! I lost my footing!”

”Oh yes you did jump, you thought you’ve lost everything, yet you had everything.”

”Can you get me out of here?” Roberto asked, suddenly overcome with guilt, he didn’t want to die anymore.

”Yes, you only need to ask.” The old man said kindly.

”Please, help me!” Roberto begged, ”I’m in so much pain, don’t know how I could still speak.”

”I thought you’d never ask.”

And the man touched him and Roberto found himself back on the platform. He looked round wildly and saw a limping old man walking away, he wanted to run after him but changed his mind.

”You’re sure one lucky dude,” said the guy standing beside him before stepping into the district line train. Roberto stood rooted to the spot, what just happened to him?

Life could be incredibly hard sometimes but losing hope and ending it all is not supposed to be an option. Thanks for reading my post!

The opportunity of second chances come briefly in life, just sometimes one needs to be told to wake up to them physically, as the mind often can trap itself in a psychosis of despair.

Always love to read your work dear Seyi Sandra.

    Much love,

  7. Yes,it certainly is not supposed to be an option. I love the way you conveyed that message with a story. As always, it is so beautifully done!

  8. tsizzles says:

Your story is tempting to put into a script and shoot for a great movie! It’s so beautiful, inspirational. Can I call you “Seyi” for short? You’ve done a phenomenal job. Will there be part 2 which describes the kind of life the man now lives as a result of making the decision to live?

    • Seyi sandra says:

Yes, there would be a part 2, though I’m working hard to re-release my novel ‘The Feet Of Darkness’ in two weeks time and do call me ‘Seyi.’ It would be a dream come true to see one of my stories turned into a script for a film. Thanks for stopping by!

      • tsizzles says:

Pleasure. Hmmm… should I wait for part 2 to be done first before beginning the script or should I get on with it anyways? 🙂 It would interesting to read “The Feet Of Darkness.” Do you have an excerpt of it here? Is it an updated version and new and improved edition since your releasing it again? What is the storyline?

      • Seyi sandra says:

Wow! You’re fast, aren’t you? You should probably wait for part 2 I guess and I’ve got loads of other stories you can browse through on my blog. (Some I’ll turn to full length novels later)

‘The Feet Of Darkness’ is a Supernatural Thriller with a bit of romance thrown in, a suicide bomber who fell in love with the daughter of a man he killed (he ordered the killing) A missing scientist who resurfaced in Nigeria to help the country become the first African nation with nuclear power and the battle between angels and demons was captured in graphic details, it was the close of the age and Lucifer was ready to harvest humanity into his coffers and… Well, hell was let loose…
Hope you’ll make it into a blockbuster movie! I would be happy to work with you!!
        Much love-:)

      • tsizzles says:

Wow, it’s not called The Feet oOf Darkness for nothing. This is a very tragic, scary and sad story. What was the inspiration behind this? After I get a few movies under my belt I’ll be connected and skilled enough to write and direct all kinds of genres.

      • Seyi sandra says:

When you read it, you’ll be able to sum it up properly, it depicted the depth of the human soul and the battle between good and evil, don’t forget I mentioned angels as well.I don’t want to give it all away yet! Thanks so much for your comments, I appreciate it.
        God bless you-:)

I’m inspired by God and the world around me, we’re at the end of days, now don’t label me a ‘doomsday writer’ because I find love in everything, yet, there are events happening around us which can’t be scientifically explained and I’ve experienced the ministry of angels…

      • tsizzles says:

In a sense it is like a fictional re-enactment of the End Times? Great. That will be fun to read. On the contrary it would nice to have more writers who are not afraid to be bold to communicate the deep stuff that everybody or most other people won’t talk about. I can easily raise up a subject that will be very contreversial only because people are not used to hearing it, simply because they are not comfortable hearing it and preachers either hardly preach it, don’t preach it enough or at all. The clue is in 1 John 3:10.

      • Seyi sandra says:

Yes, you’re right, because people don’t want to talk about it doesn’t make it less real. Preachers preach what people want to hear (though not all) Cheers!

      • tsizzles says:

Yes exactly. Preaching what people want to hear and not what they need to hear does them more harm than good. The sooner they realize this, the better.

      • Seyi sandra says:

That’s true but are people really interested in talking about the state of their souls? Rather, all they want is how to be as rich as KIng Solomon!!

      • tsizzles says:

You see, this is where the problem lies! Comfort and ease of life is all people want, but when it comes to the deep, soul-searching stuff, which also requires character growth, then opening up isn’t so easy. Plus their mind isn’t trained and prepared to hear and receive such information so it becomes difficult to grasp it. If you can find a way to prepare them, you’ll be on the right track.

      • tsizzles says:

Oh so there were other characters as well. You made it seem like there was no good that was going to conquer evil. On the contrary I think it’s great that you’re doing this because so few people would talk about the end times and the book of revelations and so on. It is nice to see an attempt at a great story coming up.

I have some controversial stuff that a lot of people feel hurt by inly because they are not used to receiving very deep information. A clue to that kind of thing is found in 1 John 3:10.

      • Seyi sandra says:

There were lots of great characters in the novel, I love angels because they are real, so are demons and they could be defeated. I really appreciate your comment and I’ll let you know when the novel is out.
        Much love-:)
