I’ve Been Hacked!

It’s really annoying but one horrible person in Egypt just hacked into my primary email account and was sending malicious emails! 😦 😦

This is the first time I’ve experienced this and it’s unsettling!

I’ve managed to change my password, a fellow blogger sent an email to warn me though I couldn’t reply because yahoo apparently blocked me from sending emails until it was rectified.

Hacking into one’s personal email account is akin to armed robbers breaking into one’s home. A big thank you to Candace, http://changeitupediting.com/ I appreciate you!

I’ll be back tomorrow for a follow-up post on ‘I See You…’

Have a pleasant night rest (if you’re in England) and if you’re in other parts of the world, peace and blessings to you all!

That is awful! It happened to me too. It was devastating and embarrassing. I felt so violated I deleted everything in that email account including beautiful love letters my husband emailed me when we first met. I now regret deleting, but I felt so invaded! If you’re on Yahoo, I wouldn’t recommend using it. Next time make your password extra long with letters and numbers.

    • Seyi sandra says:

Thank you! I don’t know how I could start all over again with that account, though I’ve changed the password, I’m still angry. I would try and change the password again, try and do what you suggested! Thank you for your visit!
      Much love. 🙂

      • Maryanne says:

I agree, I wouldn’t start over again with the same account either. That’s why when my Yahoo account got hacked, I deleted everything — including the account, and then switched to Gmail. Since 2009, no problems! Plus I love their Google Calendar and other options.

    Glad it’s sorted

Like mindless graffiti, I don’t get the motivation for causing other people grief by doing this sort of thing. It sucks that we have to have convoluted passwords that are difficult to remember, just to protect ourselves. There should be a way to lock all of this stuff without this…Hope nothing too sensitive or bad happened with this.

    • Seyi sandra says:

I hope not, can’t even get the scope of it myself. Might end up discarding that email address. Thanks for your visit and friendship, It’s appreciated!
      Cheers!

  4. be sure to change any other passwords, especially if you do any online banking.
yes, it’s frustrating when yahoo won’t let you send out any emails – sometimes it’s very important to send some correspondence, “yes, hold that plane!” and you can’t send anything out.

it’s been happening to many people lately – aol, yahoo.. i even had someone delete several of my posts on wordpress.. don’t leave your computer online and idle for long periods of time.. it gives those demons a greater opportunity to hack you.

    glad it’s ok now.

  5. Not a person to person assult but sure feels like one. Glad all seems okay. – John

That is hard to take….but it seems you know who did it? That would be especially rough…as for viruses and whatnot, I guess I just do not take too much of it seriously. Your friends know you and it will be over in a week or so….you will see!

  7. that is a nightmare – so sorry (hugs)

  8. RoSy says:

Buuuuu….on the hackers. If they would only use their smarts on positive things!

  9. Subhan Zein says:

Hope it gets solved quickly. How do you know the person comes from Egypt? Did he identify himself?

    • Seyi sandra says:

It’s resolved now Subhan, the guys at Yahoo gave me the location of the hacker but you can find out if someone had logged into your email by going to the top bar where you log out. There’s a star like button beside it and once you click it, it would give you several options or simply contact Yahoo’s customer service. I’m glad you’re much better.
      Cheers. 🙂

Good wishes sent to you from your bloggersphere buddies Ms. seyisandradavid……sleep sweetly and hurry back to us.

    • Seyi sandra says:

Thanks dear friend, the guys at Yahoo were great, at least I was alerted but I usually receive tons of emails, I didn’t notice until a blogger friend alerted me. Thank you for the RB and good wishes!
      Much love. 🙂

What odd ways folk find to spend their precious time. I do hope you get things sorted soon.

  12. Thanks for everything … Luv yaa …

  13. Clanmother says:

Scary stuff – thanks for all of the discussion. Will be on guard!

  14. Sorry to learn this happened to you.

  15. sarahcradit says:

I used to work for Yahoo…I think the number one reason we saw people get hacked was passwords that weren’t strong enough…make sure its a combo of letters/number/symbols and that its not a word anyone could guess (like your dog’s name, etc). I’m terrible about this myself as my memory is so bad that I have trouble remembering complex passwords, but it will definitely protect you. Also make sure your security questions are set so that no one but you would know the answers, and add your phone to the account as an extra security measure,

Sorry this happened…I know it sucks 😦

  16. I was recently hacked and my husband was this morning and a close friend was recently. All Yahoo accounts. It does feel so violating. I think gmail has better security. I’m sorry for your loss (of the feeling of safety).

  17. So sorry! It happened to my husband…on Christmas Eve. Not how we wanted to spend the evening, but luckily most were understanding!

  18. plaridel says:

no password is safe, but including non-alphabetic characters will help.

  19. Sorry to hear this happened to you! It is such an annoying and infuriating thing when someone invades our privacy like this! Good thing it’s sorted now.

  20. stickyquote says:

    Hope you get everything resolved.

  21. How annoying and unfortunate. Glad it’s all sorted out. At times like this you just wonder if you are safe at all in this world.

  22. lucewriter says:

Not gonna “like” this as it’s very very annoying. The down side of this beautiful technology that allows us to connect.

    • Seyi sandra says:

Exactly Luce, it’s part of the digital age. Internet trolls and hackers are like terrorists, they believe they have a right to invade other people’s privacy while claiming ‘human right’ violation when caught! Thanks for your visit, it’s appreciated!
      Much love. 🙂

  23. I’m glad I followed my instinct to let you know. So sorry you had to go through this–what a waste of your time and energy!

  24. notedinnashville says:

That’s terrible. Such a disruption to your work!

    • Seyi sandra says:

It was, at least throughout yesterday that was what I tried to sort out and thankfully it was rectified, hopefully not to rear it’s ugly head again! Thanks for stopping by!
      🙂

I have been hacked twice myself . . . it is troublesome.

  26. Manu Kurup says:

Hacking is one of the worst things that can happen to anyone. The clean-up afterwards is just tiring. Hope everything is settled.

  27. adamjasonp says:

I’m so sorry to hear this. 😦
It happens.  It’s damaging.  It’s easiest with laptop computers (you say you use them).  There are hackers everywhere that take advantage of WiFi like that.

It’s reason to keep the sensitive material disconnected as much as possible.

Recommendations: limit exposure time (try offline reading), and use separate, long illegible passwords, with symbols if possible. Change regularly/occasionally as hackers may eventually obtain the old ones.  I store them in obscure locations (can’t hack paper!) so I don’t have to memorize them.

    • Seyi sandra says:

You’re right Adam, can’t hack papers! I’ve changed my password word thrice now and will still do. It was just shocking but I’ve shaken it off.
Thank you for your kindness, it’s appreciated!
      Cheer. 🙂

  28. Terrible! We crashed two weeks ago, but hacking is much worse. It gives me the creeps. Hope everything is allright by now 🙂

    • Seyi sandra says:

Thank you very much for your kind comment.Things are back to normal now, though it was a very unpleasant experience! I truly appreciate your visit!
      Cheers.

you’re not alone. It happened to me too. In fact, I posted about this on my blogsite, with the same title as yours here. Ha ha ha
