Ancient Secrets!

Evelyn found herself in a dark slimy pit.

She looked around wildly but knew she was alone. She stood up; trying to feel her way around, then heard a low rumbling sound.

Evelyn screamed and it echoed. The sound reverberated and seemed to bounce back on the thin walls. Sobs racked through her body at her desolation. Wherever she was, her destiny was worse than before. She felt a tremor, looked down at her feet, and saw a big opening on the floor. There was a cracking sound and the ground slowly divided into two. She found herself flying to the other side of the pit and when she looked up; the sun was streaming down into the pit.

Surprisingly, a chain materialized from nowhere spinning towards her direction. She grinded her teeth in anticipation as she grabbed the chain but it was so hot it burnt her palms and she screamed out in pain and released it. The gaping hole on the ground was now closing together, Evelyn knelt down and peered inside it as flames of fire spurted out and suddenly, a creature came out of the flames.

He was a very good-looking man.

His hair was dark and curly; his eyes brown and his skin was a bronze like colour, a white robe covered his body.

”Come and I will lead you out of this place but there will be a covenant between us.”

Evelyn stared at the creature and at her surroundings, she had no recollection of how she got into the pit but she did remember her daughter, Caroline. She wanted to get back to her as soon as possible.

”I will do anything, please just get me out of here.” She said desperately; hope lighting up her entire being.

Look at the Ohio Kidnap - how can three women be held against their will for ten solid years! It defies explanation but that’s how cruel life is…

What’s in a face you may wonder.

The face captures the essence of the soul.

Your face is like the gate-keeper of your destiny.

It defines who you really are.

Your eyes draw people to you like magnet.

Your nose sniffs out success.

Your lips tastes life.

Your teeth sustain you!

Your cheeks impact on your glory.

It puffs up when you’re full and shrinks at your lowest ebb.

Your face is permanently yours.

You can’t divorce your face.

You’re stuck with it!

You might BOTOX it.

Plum it up.

Try to redefine it.

But you can’t go on holiday without it!

You can bleach it white.

Or darken it with suntan creams.

But it’s forever yours!

Your face is beautiful.

 Your face is a mystery!

It’s the mirror to your soul.

Take care of your face guys… it would be with you for eternity!

I saw a man today on my way to work, my eyes locked with his for a brief second and we connected briefly. The man’s face stayed with me throughout today. He was an old man, probably tending towards eighty but he looked happy. I couldn’t help thinking of the kind of life he’d lived to that moment when we passed by each other like breeze on a country side. The writer in me sprung to life and when I got home, I penned this words. I hope you like it!

Much love to you my friends!

Tales Of Five Lies And Stepping Into Greatness!

 Tales Of Five Lies

I want to give you my readers, few nuggets to chew on my book, aptly titled, ”Tales Of Five Lies.” And for the record, nobody can predict the end of the world, so why not enjoy yourselves, tuck into your turkey and march into your glorious future!

Excerpts;

It was a dark and lonely place. Time dragged on excruciatingly slow and I was contemplating going back to my comfortable bed when I saw a man darting behind a tree. All my senses came alive and I watched with apprehension, my hand on the gun my dad gave me before he died. I always take it with me as a safety measure.

I stood still watching every movement the man made, I noticed he glanced round briefly, apparently satisfied he was alone then he whistled. Two men emerged from the shadows dragging a bulging bag between them. My mind went wild with all kinds of theory, what could they be burying at that time of the night and how on earth did my best friend got a whiff of their plans? Something was not right, I could feel it deep within my bones.

They got a secluded spot and began digging…

Immolation? I Hate Fire!

Thich Quang Duc

I saw this caption, ‘I hate fire’ embedded in a picture on a blog I visited recently and I thought, why not quickly pen this down before returning to my Nanowrimo novel.

Yes, I hate fire and it was actually strange and saddening that some people could light themselves up in protest against oppression! Don’t get me wrong guys, I am not against people demonstrating, albeit, peacefully, but burning yourself? That is a bit in the extreme.

A few months ago, I saw the picture of a Tibetan monk literally lighting himself up! He was protesting against oppression and when I did a little research, I found out the story of Thich Quang Duc, a very popular Buddhist monk revered to this day.

Early in the morning on June 11,1963 at a popular intersection in Saigon, Thich Quang Duc had made his intention known to his superiors that he was going to burn himself to draw attention to the plight of the monks who were being severely oppressed by the US-backed Catholic regime of Ngo Dinh Diem in South Vietnam.

Now I won’t bore you with the graphic details but this Duc guy died for a cause he believed in, and I can’t begin to imagine the excruciating pain he must have felt when he was being burned alive! And so… he died!

The war finally came to an end and many people attested to the fact that his sacrifice was instrumental in drawing the attention of the world to the plight of the monks, and also in a way ending the war.

I don’t encourage anyone emulating that in any way, but that is just my opinion!

Life is a mystery and we can’t understand it all…
